Lewis Hamilton blij: "Ik hou van de Verenigde Staten"

Met zijn vijftigste Grand Prix-zege heeft Lewis Hamilton zijn kampioenschapskansen levend gehouden. Door de tweede plaats van Nico Rosberg loopt hij slechts zeven punten in, maar met de zege in Texas houdt de Brit de druk op zijn teamgenoot.

Zijn vierde zege op het Circuit of the Americas behaalde Hamilton op een dominante wijze, en na afloop van de race was de Mercedes-coureur dan ook erg blij. Op het podium liet hij aan acteur Gerard Butler weten: "Dit is altijd goede jachtgrond voor mij geweest. Ik hou ervan om in de VS te zijn en ik voel me hier thuis. Ik wil de fans bedanken voor hun goede werk en het publiek was geweldig. Het is de vierde keer dat ik hier win en de vijfde zege in Amerika, en ook nog eens mijn vijftigste in totaal. Ik zal mijn best blijven doen en hoewel Nico erg goed rijdt, zal ik alles geven voor het wereldkampioenschap."

    Hij heeft goed gereden, maar ik vind het bijna ongemakkelijk worden hoe hij bij het publiek slijmt na iedere race.

      Nico slijmt net zo hard als hij gewonnen heeft, dat doen de meeste winnaars trouwens, ff lekker populair doen tegen het publiek...
      Maar wat moeten die gasten anders zeggen eigenlijk;)

    Goed weekend van Hamilton , is gewoon een feit , maar... de grote winnaar is Rosberg , want hij kan de volgende wedstrijd wereldkampioen zijn ;-)

      Absoluut waar, met een dnf voor Hamilton en een overwinning voor Rosberg is het over. (Deels) Los van mijn voorkeur zou ik het mooi vinden als die situatie omgedraaid zou zijn. Dan heb je nog maar 2 races te gaan met Hamilton en Rosberg op slechts 1 punt van elkaar. Dat zou mooi zijn, maar dan speelt mijn voorkeur uiteraard ook mee ;-)

      Zeker speelt iemands voorkeur een hele grote rol , want als het allemaal andersom was geweest dit seizoen , had geen enkele Hamilton-fan dat erg gevonden

    Goed weekend inderdaad voor Hamilton, maar zie hem lever niet op het podium, hij is zo saai. Liever een Ricciardo op het podium is toch geweldig!

    Vreemd dat hij zegt dat hij minder vermogen had dan Nico vandaag, terwijl Toto Wolff dat juist weer tegenspreekt.

    Lewis, Nico en Daniël geëindigd op de plekken waarop ze gestart zijn, dus hebben ze goed gereden? Of gewoon foutloos en het materiaal heeft de rest gedaan? Ik ga voor optie 2.
    Race was aan de kop dan ook redelijk saai vond ik.

      Prima race van de Spanjaarden idd. Wel weer typisch Sainz (en ook STR met hun belabberde tactieken) dat de bandjes worden opgerookt en hij dus in de problemen komt mede doordat ze tactisch weer rommelen door een te lange stint op soft.
      Massa is all heel lang geen topper meer en had Sainz voor het opvegen maar het lukte hem zoals gewoonlijk niet waarna Alonso wat rubber moest opofferen om de Braziliaan aan de kant te schuiven. Dat was nog bijna het geluk van Sainz maar aangezien deze zijn banden ook niet heel kon houden kon Alonso ook Sainz nog ff opzij zetten zoals Massa allang had moeten doen. Fernando toonde zijn klasse weer eens.
      Sainz desondanks ook zeer zeker goed gereden! Of het genoeg is om Ricciardo of Max uit het RB zitje te wippen? Dat denk ik niet maar het was een goed optreden.

      Nee daar geloof ik ook niets van, Max is meest races toch wel van een ander kaliber.
      Maar we kunnen hier wel eens dollen over Sainz (is ook gewoon leuk vind ik) toch is het een aardige coureur en schat ik hem hoger in dan menig ander middenvelder, is wel een beetje Sainz zn verdienste dat hij Flip met MB power achter zich wist te houden.
      Alonso was er natuurlijk veel aan gelegen om die snotaap wiens slaapkamer is behangen met Alonso-posters iig te pakken 'YIHAA" :-)
