Lewis Hamilton: "Onze starts zijn nog niet optimaal"

Lewis Hamilton start de Grand Prix van Mexico van pole position. Het is de tweede pole position in een week voor de drievoudig wereldkampioen. Ondanks zijn pole is het nog geen uitgemaakte zaak wie als eerste de eerste bocht ingaat volgens Hamilton, die toegeeft dat de starts van Mercedes nog steeds niet optimaal zijn.

Hamilton laat wel weten meer vertrouwen te hebben na zijn zege van een week geleden in Austin. De Brit had toen een prima start en reed naar een onbedreigde zege: "Sinds vorig weekend voel ik meer comfortabel bij de starts. Ik zou dat zo graag aan het begin van dit jaar al hebben gehad. Gelukkig hebben we het nu beter voor elkaar, dit is de periode van het jaar waarin het kampioenschap beslist gaat worden.

Over zijn verwachtingen voor de race laat Hamilton het volgende los: "Ik heb er vertrouwen in. Het is een lang stuk naar de eerste bocht, het is dus nog belangrijker een goede start te hebben. Onze starts zijn nog steeds niet optimaal, we werken nog aan verbetering. We blijven eraan werken tot het einde van dit seizoen."
