Het team van Mercedes nam in het in Mexico weer op tegen Red Bull Racing. Rijders Lewis Hamilton en Nico Rosberg startten allebei op de zachte compound, terwijl Max Verstappen begon op de superzachte band. Door de extreme levensduur van de medium compound kozen veel teams voor één stop. Mercedes behaalde in Mexico City een volgende 1-2.
