Brawn voorlopig alleen consultant voor Liberty

Ross Brawn heeft tegengesproken dat hij een positie in de leiding van de Formule 1 onder de nieuwe eigenaar Liberty Media heeft geaccepteerd. De voormalig technisch directeur van Ferrari en oud-teambaas van Mercedes bekende wel dat hij Liberty voorziet van adviezen.

Het mediabedrijf is nog helemaal niet zover dat ze functies kunnen invullen. Brawn deelde aan BBC Sport mede: "Liberty is nog niet ver genoeg om zich ergens aan te verbinden. Ik ben alleen een soort consultant om ze te helpen om de Formule 1 beter te begrijpen, meer niet."

Of hij in de nabije toekomst zijn betrokkenheid zal vergroten, is afhankelijk van wat Bernie Ecclestone gaat doen en welke rol hij onder de nieuwe eigenaar toebedeeld krijgt. Brawn zou namens Liberty Media het sportieve gedeelte van de Formule 1 onder zijn hoede nemen.
