Braziliaanse F1-rijder met uitsterven bedreigd

De kans bestaat dat Brazilië volgend jaar niet is vertegenwoordigd op de Formule 1-grid. Felipe Massa zwaait na dit seizoen af en Felipe Nasr heeft nog geen contract voor 2017. Brazilië, een land met een roemrijk verleden wat betreft Formule 1-coureurs, met roemruchte namen als Nelson Piquet, Emerson Fittipaldi, Carlos Pace, Rubens Barrichello en natuurlijk Ayrton Senna.

Het ras van Braziliaanse Formule 1-rijder wordt nu echter met uitsterven bedreigd. Zo erg zelfs dat niemand minder dan Bernie Ecclestone zich bekommert om het lot van Nasr. De Braziliaan zou bij meerdere teams terecht kunnen, maar op dit moment ligt hij nog nergens vast voor 2017. En aan de horizon doemt weinig nieuw talent uit Brazilië op.

Sergio Sette Camara geniet de steun van Red Bull, maar de 18-jarige Braziliaan heeft geen geweldig seizoen in het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap achter de rug. Hij scoorde op weg naar een elfde plaats in de eindstand 117 punten en finishte twee keer op het podium. Dat zijn nog altijd betere wapenfeiten dan de eveneens 18-jarige Pedro Piquet kan overleggen.

De zoon van drievoudig Formule 1-kampioen Nelson Piquet verzamelde namens Van Amersfoort Racing negentien punten in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. De 20-jarige Pietro Fittipaldi, kleinzoon van tweevoudig Formule 1-kampioen Emerson Fittipaldi, is bezig aan een niet zo denderend seizoen in de Formule V8 3.5, waarin hij de veertiende positie bezet.

Gezien de jeugdige leeftijd waarop Max Verstappen en Lance Stroll de Formule 1 hebben bereikt, lijkt dit trio de boot al te hebben gemist. Misschien dat alleen Sette Camara het nog ver kan schoppen, maar verder is alle Braziliaanse hoop voorlopig gevestigd op Nasr. Dat is ook geen hoogvlieger, maar het is voor de Brazilianen in elk geval beter dan geen landgenoot in de Formule 1.

Misschien loopt er in het Amazonegebied nog wel een talentje, en anders moet Massa jr maar worden klaargestoomd voor de toekomst.

  Ik gun iedereen het allerbeste, maar ik heb mij altijd een beetje geërgerd aan het feit dat papa Massa met z'n brilletje en broertje Massa met z'n vieze snorretje en het verwende zoontje Massa altijd, maar dan ook altijd aanwezig waren tijdens een GP en ook nog eens in beeld kwamen.
  
  Ik voorzie dezelfde beelden als Massa junior in de F1 komt en daar zit ik eigenlijk niet echt op te wachten.

  Pizzonia uit Manaus, daar vond ik het jammer van dat hij niet echt die grote doorbraak heeft gehad met wel lastige tegenstanders zoals Webber en Montoya. Dat was geen makkelijke klus, een erg onderschatte coureur

  Dus ik neem aan dat je blij bent dat de pa (met z'n grijze haar) van Button niet meer in beeld kan komen richardt? Hij was er namelijk ook elke race bij en kwam ook vaak in beeld.
