KONI vertaalt F1-technologie naar TrackDay Kit

Deze week presenteren KONI en H&R tijdens de Professional MotorSport World Expo in Keulen een nieuwe, geavanceerde TrackDay Kit. De KONI/H&R TrackDay Kit wordt ontwikkeld voor een brede serie modellen van Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, SEAT en Volkswagen en combineert Formule 1-technologie met uitgebalanceerde onderstelprestaties voor de openbare weg en het circuit.

De KONI/H&R TrackDay Kit is gebaseerd op dempertechnologie die KONI begin 2000 in de Formule 1 introduceerde en die vandaag-de-dag nog steeds gebruikt wordt in de GP2, GP3, Formule 3 en GT Series. De kit bestaat uit een complete demper-veer set voor standaard straatgebruik, maar vooral om op het circuit een optimale handling te realiseren. Een centraal onderdeel van de TrackDay Kit zijn de zuigerboringen met voorgespannen kleppen. Dit klepsysteem wordt al jaren gezien als een solide basis voor optimale handling en tuning.

Als onderdeel van de nieuwe TrackDay kit introduceert KONI deze technologie nu ook in trackday-toepassingen. KONI en H&R leveren samen een up-side-down configuratie voor een monotube-demper voor zowel wielophangingen met McPherson-poten als met standaard veer/dempercombinatie. Deze constructie is toegerust op een zware zijwaartse belasting en biedt een zeer solide dempersetup.

De brede keuze uit 64 vooraf ingestelde dempingkarakteristieken verschaft de gebruiker de optie om uit verschillende veerverhoudingen voor zowel straat- als circuitgebruik te kiezen. De TrackDay Kit biedt acht instelbare standen voor zowel de uitwaartse (rebound) als inwaartse (bump) demping, die beide eenvoudig en voelbaar te verstellen zijn via specifieke standen, ook wel kliks, om er zeker van te zijn dat elke afzonderlijke boring enkel ofwel open staat of dicht is. Elk van deze standen zorgt voor een merkbare en terugkerende wijziging in de demperkromme.

Yep, fysiek met een sleutel de demper instellen. 4 dempers ongeveer een kwartiertje werk. Opzich een mooie set, je kunt je auto mooi laag zetten met toch een relatief zachte demping vanuit de schokbrekers. Voor een bijv. een "track dag" lekker stijf afstellen, auto helt wat minder over. Ondanks dat het een beetje vreemd is vertaald begrijp ik het verhaal wel. Wel maak ik hieruit op dat de verstelling nog steeds fysiek aan de demper moet gebeuren. Mooier zou een knopje op het stuur zijn...

T werkt erg goed op mijn cupra.

  ik had een KW variant 2 schroefset, (dat zijn koni schokdempers) helaas waren deze aan de achterkant alleen in hardheid instelbaar als de volledige demper uit elkaar was.
  
  wat jij bedoeld is de verlaging, niet de hardheid, hardheid kan je bovenop de demper instellen.

  @michaelf1, dat zeg ik toch ook? Je kunt de verlaging zelf bepalen en daarnaast ook de demping/hardheid. Dus het is mogelijk om je auto mooi laag te zetten met nog enigzins comfort. Of zo stijf als een plan en alles wat daar tussen in zit.

Ik gun Koni alle succes. Ook goed dat ze in H&R een goeie partner hebben.

Ooit was Koni de absolute nummer 1 op demper gebied. Het merk dat je nodig had om succesvol te zijn in de racerij.
Tot een of andere Biblebelt gek daar aan het roer kwam en al die zondagse circuit-activiteiten afkeurde...
