Coureurs gewaarschuwd over uitloopstrook La Source

Alle Formule 1-coureurs zijn tijdens de briefing gewaarschuwd over de uitloopstrook bij de eerste bocht La Source. Wanneer coureurs over de uitloopstrook rijden en voordeel eruit halen, bijvoorbeeld plaatsen weten te winnen, zal er een straf komen.

Kimi Raikkonen demonstreerde tijdens de start van de race vorig jaar dat er voordeel te halen is door over deze uitloopstrook te rijden. Raikkonen pakte meer momentum, kreeg hierdoor meer snelheid voor Eau Rouge en kon zo inhalen op het lange rechte stuk na Kemmel.

FIA-race directeur en steward Nigel Mansell hebben echter in de briefing duidelijk gemaakt hard te zullen optreden als men hier gebruik van maakt. Daarnaast is er al extra kunstgras aangelegd bij de cerbstone om het minder aantrekkelijk te maken om er overheen te moeten rijden.
