Wedstrijdleiding deelt geen straffen uit na incident tussen Raikkonen en Sainz Jr.

Tijdens de vrije training voor de Grand Prix van Brazilië reden Kimi Raikkonen en Carlos Sainz Jr. elkaar bijna van de baan op het rechte stuk richting de pits. De wedstrijdleiding liet tijdens de training al weten een onderzoek in te stellen naar het incident, maar na bestuderen van de beelden is besloten geen straffen uit te delen.

In een verklaring laat de wedstrijdleiding het volgende weten: "Zowel Kimi Raikkonen als Carlos Sainz besloten op hetzelfde moment hun snelle ronde af. Beide coureurs hadden vervolgens de intentie om terug te keren naar de pits. Er was geen snelheidsverschil toen Sainz en Raikkonen de heuvel op reden, maar Sainz ging vervolgens energie sparen. Raikkonen moest om Sainz Jr. heen, maar was zoveel sneller dat dit geen gevaar opleverde. Geen van de coureurs heeft een gevaarlijke situatie veroorzaakt."
