Einde van Ron Dennis bij McLaren aanstaande

Het einde van het tijdperk Ron Dennis bij McLaren is aanstaande. BBC Sport bericht dat de Brit later vandaag van de overige aandeelhouders te horen zal krijgen dat hij zijn positie als voorzitter en directeur van de McLaren Group af moet staan.

Dennis heeft nog getracht om daar een stokje voor te steken, maar het Hooggerechtshof stelde hem niet in het gelijk. McLaren gaat waarschijnlijk zijn opzegtermijn, of gardening leave, activeren. De exacte aard van zijn vertrek wordt in samenspraak met de aandeelhouders bepaald.

Dennis is zelf een van de aandeelhouders, hij bezit 25 procent van de aandelen in de McLaren Group. Mumtalakat, een investeringsfonds uit Bahrein, heeft 50 procent van de aandelen in handen en Mansour Ojjeh beheert de overige 25 procent van de aandelen.

Bij de andere aandeelhouders overheerst het gevoel dat de autocratische stijl van leidinggeven van Dennis de groei van McLaren belemmert. Dennis nam in 1981 het roer over bij McLaren en de renstal bloeide op, maar de laatste jaren is het team weggezakt.

      Ja, want die deed het bij Renault ook zo goed... :P

      Ik heb het idee dat ze een grote fout maken, en dat het een politiek spel is om Ron eruit te werken voordat zijn invloed te groot wordt. Als je ziet wat McLaren als bedrjif doet, dan is dat volgens mij toch niet zo verkeerd allemaal, alleen het F1 team is een beetje meh de laatste jaren, maar ik heb ze dit seizoen wel zien groeien. Als die Honda nog wat pk's erbij krijgt, en Prodromou het aerodynamisch wat beter voor elkaar krijgt dan zou dat volgend jaar best een verrassing kunnen zijn.

      Ron heeft geprobeerd investeerders te vinden om de aandeelhouders uit te kopen, en de macht weer naar zich toe te trekken. Nu dat is mislukt is zijn positie onhoudbaar geworden tov de andere aandeelhouders, wat zakelijk gezien logisch is door de ontstane vertrouwensbreuk.

      Lol, ja laten ze die nutteloze dweil van een Whitmarsh weer terug zetten. Onvoorstelbaar hoe snel McLaren afgleed onder het "bewind" van die gast.

      Aan de andere kant, Dennis heeft gegokt met Honda en ze hebben ze de plank compleet mis geslagen. Inmiddels al twee seizoenen dat ze toch voor spek en bonen mee doen. Ze kunnen inmiddels ook al geen behoorlijke sponsor meer vinden daardoor. Daar mag Dennis toch ook wel op afgrekend worden eigenlijk.

    Hij had ook al moeten stoppen, als je er zo mee bezig bent, dan zie je niet meer waar het mis gaat, en nu wordt hij er eigenlijk uitgegooid ,ik denk na de laatste GP in die zandbak.

    Hebben ze hem nog wel nodig... denk wel dat hij de grote sponsors binnen hengelt daar, maar we weten het in feite niet als F1-fans, wel dat het al een poosje bergaf gaat met McL en ze nog ver van de top verwijdert zijn, idd wie zou daar het tij kunnen keren?

    Ron Dennis moet na 35 jaar stoppen als directeur van McLaren. Zijn mede-aandeelhouders van het Formule 1-team zouden dat dinsdag definitief hebben besloten.
    Dat meldt de BBC. Dennis werd eerder al op de hoogte gebracht en probeerde zijn vertrek naar verluidt aan te vechten bij de Hoge Raad, maar dat bleek tevergeefs.
