Tilke: "Zuid-Korea is op tijd klaar voor Grand Prix"

Circuitontwerper Hermann Tilke heeft een poging gedaan om de twijfels rond de Grand Prix van Zuid-Korea weg te nemen. Het nieuwe Korean International Circuit nabij Yeongam zal op tijd af zijn, zo belooft de Duitser. De eerste Zuid-Koreaanse Grand Prix vindt op 24 oktober plaats.

Tilke deelde aan Autosport mede: Het circuit is nog niet af, maar zal wel op tijd klaar zijn voor de race. Natuurlijk is het krap, maar dat is normaal bij de bouw van circuits. Met een Formule 1-baan is het probleem altijd de vast staande racedatum. Je kan niet uitstellen als je slecht weer tegenkomt of met andere ongunstige omstandigheden te maken krijgt. Bij een normaal gebouw kan je zeggen dat je het een week of twee weken later oplevert. Met een Formule 1-circuit gaat dat niet. Maar wees gerust, het komt goed met Zuid-Korea.
