Manor bevestigt gesprekken met investeerder

Het team van Manor Racing is in onderhandeling met een externe investeerder over de verkoop van een meerderheid van de aandelen. De gesprekken zijn al enige tijd gaande, maar zijn de voorbije weken in een stroomversnelling geraakt. Eigenaar Stephen Fitzpatrick wil in tegenstelling tot eerder berichten wel betrokken blijven bij het project Manor.

Manor-directeur Thomas Mayer liet aan Autosport weten: "Ik kan bevestigen dat we in discussie zijn met een externe partij die een meerderheidsbelang in het team wil nemen. Veel meer kan ik er op dit moment niet over zeggen, behalve dat de onderhandelingen zich in een vergevorderd stadium bevinden. Ik hoop dat we spoedig positief nieuws naar buiten kunnen brengen."

Manor is nu nog wat waard omdat het volgend jaar recht heeft op een betaling uit 'Kolom 1'. Teams die in de voorbije drie jaar twee keer in de top tien zijn geëindigd komen daarvoor in aanmerking. Het gaat om een bedrag van tussen de 30 en 35 miljoen dollar. Dat valt voor 2018 mogelijk weg als Manor dit jaar en volgend seizoen beslag legt op de elfde plaats.

    Kortom wie nu instapt is volgend jaar de klos. Als ik goed tel wordt dit de 4e transformatie in 7 jaar.
    Het zal wel weer zo'n investeerder met enige zelfoverschatting en weinig affiniteit met F1 zijn.

      De investeerder heeft maar de helft geboden van de vraagprijs, dus
      betwijfel of het door gaat.

      Zou een strak 'plan B' zijn. Met de Mercedes motor en een batterij aan mensen die meekomen van McLaren in een rap tempo die Manir door ontwikkelen en halverwege 2017 de McLaren al voorbij scheuren in een race. Revenge is sweet!

      En toch heb ik meer vertrouwen in Manor dan in Sauber.

      Sauber zakt weg, maar Manor komt omhoog.
      Sauber gaat komend jaar geen potten breken denk ik met de oude motor.
      Alls Manor komend jaar boven Sauber eindigt is het financiele plaatje weer gered als ik het goed begrijp.

      Ron Dennis zou inderdaad wel mooi zijn, maar denk het niet

      Zou prachtig zijn, want ik zie Dennis er wel toe in staat om Manor naar een hoger niveau te brengen.

      Als RD de miljoenen had om de faciliteiten van Manor op te bouwen zodat zij wat hogerop komen, had hij net zo goed die 25% van Mansour direct komen kopen. Dan was de angel ook uit dat conflict.
