Red Bull en TAG Heuer verlengen samenwerking tot en met 2018

Red Bull rijdt ook de komende twee jaar met Renault-motoren die net als dit seizoen de naam van Tag Heuer zullen dragen. De Oostenrijkse renstal vierde in Abu Dhabi het behalen van de tweede plek bij de constructeurs en maakte van de gelegenheid gebruik om bekend te maken dat het contract met het horlogemerk verlengd is tot en met 2018.

Christian Horner was duidelijk in zijn nopjes met de contractverlenging: "Ik ben erg blij met de verlenging van de samenwerking. Red Bull en Tag Heuer hebben beiden een passie voor racen en een drive om dingen anders te doen dan anderen en dit vormt de basis voor onze samenwerking. Tag Heuer's motto is dan ook 'Don't crack under pressure' en daar hebben we bij Red Bull Racing dagelijks mee te maken. We willen Tag Heuer dan ook helpen deze boodschap verder uit te dragen."

Tag Heuer Global Sports-directeur Marc Biver voegde daar nog aan toe: "Formule 1 is onderdeel van het DNA van Tag Heuer. Red Bull is een jong, dynamisch en gedreven team en dit past perfect bij onze marketing strategie. We hebben een aantal spannende en creatieve projecten voor de boeg in 2017."

Hoewel de Renault-motoren vorig jaar een stuk langzamer en onbetrouwbaarder bleken dan die van de concurrentie, bleken de motoren dit jaar een stuk betrouwbaarder en competitiever. Red Bull was dit jaar de naaste belager van Mercedes en boekte al twee zeges, maar kwam desalniettemin tekort om het de Duitse renstal echt lastig te maken. De Oostenrijkers hopen zich volgend jaar echter weer te mengen in de strijd om de wereldtitel.

Toch wel grappig. Stel dat RBR in 2018 met Honda aandrijving rijdt, dan is het nog steeds een TAG Heuer.

  @brammus mijn comment was nette manier om te zeggen dat bovenstaande een kontverhaal is.
  
  Je dacht toch niet echt dat als RB bv met een Ferrari motor gaat rijden er nog steeds een tag Heuer als BADGE op staat.

Mooi. Dan hebben ze een serieuze kans op de titel de komende 2 jaren.
En dan hebben ze ook nog 2 jaar extra de tijd om een exclusieve nummer 1 deal met een motorenfabrikant te sluiten. Want ik verwacht dat Renault na 2018 toch hun eigen fabrieksteam als primaire afnemer van hun motoren zal beschouwen en niet een klantenteam als Red Bull.

  Mijn bijdragen doe ik altijd uit de kop hier op het forum. Af en toe een joetjoep filmpje. Had de naam bijna goed (afkorting TAG) maar goed, jij wint. Wel leuk om te zien dat jij een Bernie avatar hebt. Had hij ooit niet een paar blauwe ogen geslagen gekregen omdat men zijn klokkie moest hebben?...haha.(ook dat weer even uit de mouw, maar dat terzijde).

Dan kunnen toch wel wat van de tijd afhalen in Q3 bij Red Bull. Max en Ricciardo zaten wel een duizendste van elkaar bij de training opvallend genoeg :)
