Vijay Mallya verdient alle lof voor Force India

Het team van Force India behaalde dit jaar een historische vierde plaats in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs. Nooit eerder eindigde de Indiase renstal zo hoog. Dat is voor een groot deel toe te schrijven aan teameigenaar Vijay Mallya, stelt vice-teambaas Bob Fernley. Zakelijk gezien verandert niet alles dat Mallya aanraakt in goud, maar met Force India wel.

Fernley vertelde aan Autosport: "Ja, Vijay verdient alle lof en waardering voor onze prestaties. Volgend jaar is hij tien jaar actief in de Formule 1. Er zijn niet veel individuele teameigenaren die het zo lang volhouden in deze sport. En Vijay blijft het team ondersteunen. Dat is het fundament onder onze opmars. Het is geen magie, maar consistentie, aandacht voor details en goede mensen."

"De vierde plek geeft ons echt een morele boost. Het onderstreept wat het team de afgelopen drie of vier jaar heeft gedaan. Dit zorgt voor een niet te onderschatten enthousiasme op de werkvloer en helpt het team richting een hoger niveau. Het extra prijzengeld dat ermee gemoeid is, is ook leuk, maar ondergeschikt aan het enthousiasme en de toewijding die het voor 2017 oplevert."
