Lewis Hamilton: "Ik heb met meer gevoel gereden in 2016"

Ondanks het mislopen van de wereldtitel kijkt Lewis Hamilton met een goed gevoel terug op zijn prestaties gedurende het seizoen 2016. De Brit kende in de openingsfase van het seizoen veel pech, maar wist zich gedurende het jaar terug te knokken in de titelstrijd. Een combinatie van een uitvalbeurt in Maleisië en een aantal slechte starts waren uiteindelijk doorslaggevend om de titel te zien gaan naar teamgenoot Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton laat weten de uitdaging om zich terug te knokken gedurende het racen te hebben ervaren: "Ik denk dat ik met meer gevoel heb gereden in 2016. Ik had de nodige uitdagingen gedurende het jaar. Denk aan de slechte starts die ik had; ik moest me dan weer een weg naar voren zien te vechten. Ik moest diep gaan om steeds het maximale resultaat te halen. Voorgaande jaren startte ik van pole en zag ik vervolgens niemand meer tot aan de finish."

Hamilton besloot het seizoen met tien overwinningen en behaalde in Austin zijn 50e overwinning. Hamilton laat weten niet graag terug te kijken naar de negatieve aspecten van het seizoen, maar laat toch het volgende weten: "Ik kijk niet graag terug, maar probeer er altijd positieve punten uit te halen. De dingen niet goed gingen leer ik van. Ik heb afgelopen seizoenen meer overwinningen en poles dan ooit behaald. Het was een zeer succesvol seizoen voor het team. Ik ben ben gegroeid als coureur en heb een goede band met mijn engineer en monteurs. Dat soort dingen geven we me de kracht en motivatie om een sterk seizoen 2017 te hebben."

Dat zou best wel eens kunnen, want zijn normale scherpte was een aantal races ver te zoeken. Leek er op dat ie soms de race als een vervelende onderbreking van zn drukke agenda zag. Een tussendoortje zeg maar.
Gratis advies: Volgend jaar gewoon wat minder gevoel en meer scherpte. Dan kun je achteraf niet klagen dat Max je te snel af was.

  Onzin dus. Meer wins, poles dan de wereldkampioen en ooit in zijn loopbaan.

Ik hoop dat hij volgend jaar met nog veel meer gevoel rijdt! Hij mag best nog een keer kampioen worden, maar niet met 2 vingers in de neus....
