Investeerders Liberty financieren aanschaf van F1

Liberty Media heeft overeenstemming bereikt met enkele aandeelhouders over een investering in het mediabedrijf met als doel om de geplande overname van de Formule 1 af te ronden. De groep investeerders hoest 1,55 miljard dollar op en dat geld is bestemd voor de Formule 1-deal.

Coatue Management, de D.E. Shaw Group, JANA Partners LLC, Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb Inc, Soroban Capital Partners LP, SPO Advisory Corp en Viking Global Investors LP zijn de investeerders die extra aandelen in Liberty afnemen om de koop van de Formule 1 mede mogelijk te maken.

Liberty-directeur Greg Maffei: "We zijn verguld dat deze indrukwekkend lange lijst van investeerders participeert in onze aanschaf van de Formule 1. Deze groep investeerders deelt ons enthousiasme voor de sport en ons geloof in de mogelijkheden om de Formule 1 te laten groeien, wat ten gunste komt aan de fans, de teams, de sponsors en onze aandeelhouders. We kijken ernaar uit om deze transactie begin 2017 af te ronden."

    Dat moeten wij als fans toch nog even afwachten. Als de toegangskaarten tot de races goedkoper worden, de TV uitzendingen niet meer betaald hoeven worden, zoals tot in een vrij recent verleden nog het geval was, en er digitaal herhalingen op youtube gezet gaan worden, dan kan het interessant worden ;-)

    Kwestie van tijd, kijk maar naar de muziek industrie, als je niet mee gaat met de tijd, die hielden het ook zo lang mogelijk tegen.
    En nu koopt niemand meer CD's, F1 is ook overal gratis te zien, dus is aan de nieuwe eigenaren om iets goeds op te zetten, Bernie springt van ellende al veel bij, bij circuits maar dat is een voorbode dat het echt moet veranderen.
