Ferrari-coureur Sebastian Vettel heeft niet zijn leukste seizoen in de Formule 1 achter de rug. Dat was via de boordradio vaak ook wel te horen. De Duitser klonk vaak geïrriteerd, met als hoogte- of dieptepunt de scheldkanonnade tijdens de Mexicaanse Grand Prix. ESPN F1 zette de kleurrijkste boodschappen van Vettel dit jaar op een rijtje.
"OK, I made contact. I had no chance to avoid, I had the Red Bull coming up the inside like a mad man and I hit Kimi." Just to copy you again, Kvyat's attack was suicidal. There was always going to be a crash, no way with the speed he had he could have done the corner." Vettel beklaagde zich in China over de acties van Daniil Kvyat in de eerste bocht.

"If I don't avoid that he is just going straight into my car. Honestly, what are we doing? Racing or ping pong?" Het commentaar van de Duitser op een inhaalactie van Daniel Ricciardo tijdens de Grand Prix van Spanje. Ricciardo kwam van ver en remde extreem laat, maar zijn poging om Vettel voorbij te gaan lukte net niet.
"Get this traffic out of the way! Mama mia what the hell is going on!?" Vettel uitte in Canada zijn ongenoegen over de achterblijvers. Dat zou een terugkerend fenomeen worden. Bijvoorbeeld in Hongarije: "Come on, blue flag! [Censored] that's ridiculous. I mean come on -- seriously!"
En in Japan verloor hij helemaal zijn gedulded: "Honestly it's ridiculous, it's ridiculous. Lost a second -- for nothing! [censored]" En: "Pity sake, make him go! What do you want to know, quick track, difficult to pass, you lose behind another car. It's ridiculous!" En: "Blue flags! I mean it can't be true can it!"
Tot slot Mexico, waar Vettel zijn woede over het feit dat Max Verstappen zijn positie verdedigde door de baan te verlaten en vervolgens weigerde de plek af te staan de vrije loop liet. "Move, move for f---s sake. He's a [censored], that's what he is. I mean, am I the only one or are you not seeing what I'm seeing!? He's just backing me off into Ricciardo [censored]." Om vervolgens uit te halen richting FIA-wedstrijdleider Charlie Whiting: "You know what, here's the message to Charlie: f--k off! Honestly f--k off."
