Finland roept Raikkonen uit tot sportambassadeur

Kimi Raikkonen is bij een sportgala in Helsinki uitgeroepen tot ambassadeur voor de sport namens Finland. De Ferrari-coureur is de eerste die deze eretitel mag dragen. De Finse premier Juha Sipila benoemde Raikkonen hoogstpersoonlijk tot sportambassadeur voor zijn land.

De wereldkampioen Formule 1 van 2007 zei op het podium: "Ik ben niet gewend om speeches te geven. Ik wens de prijswinnaars uit de verschillende categorieën het beste toe, net als de genomineerden die dit keer buiten de prijzen zijn gevallen. Ik wil benadrukken hoe belangrijk de steun van mijn familie voor mij is geweest, evenals de hulp van betrouwbare collega's en de mensen van het team van Ferrari."

Raikkonen begint dit jaar aan zijn vijftiende seizoen in de Formule 1.
