Liberty moedigt teams aan te investeren in F1

Nieuwe Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media onderneemt nog een laatste poging om de teams toch te bewegen om aandelen in de sport te kopen. Het mediabedrijf heeft iets meer dan twintig procent van de aandelen gereserveerd voor de renstallen met een prijs van 21,26 dollar per aandeel.

De aandelen verschaffen de teams echter geen stemrecht bij belangrijke beslissingen, waardoor er weinig belangstelling was om gebruik te maken van die optie. Liberty moedigt de renstallen nu aan om toch te investeren in de Formule 1. Directeur Greg Maffei: "We denken dat het belangrijk is om de teams de kans te bieden te investeren in de sport en onze belangen op elkaar af te stemmen."

De nieuwe Formule 1-voorzitter Chase Carey vulde hem aan met: "Enkele teams hebben interesse getoond om te investeren en we zijn al begonnen met productieve discussies om de sport meer competitief en nog opwindender te maken."

Het zou zwaar oneerlijk zijn als de teams stemrecht konden krijgen. Kunnen ze toch druk uit oefenen om de regels meer hun kant op te laten vallen.
Ik denk dat vanuit financieel oogpunt dit goed kan uitvallen, als de populariteit van de F1 stijgt, dan stijgt het aandeel ook. Als een team zijn aand... [Lees verder]

    Als ze er ook stemrecht aan koppelen zullen veel teams wel geintresseerd zijn, en anders maar niet.

    Het zou zwaar oneerlijk zijn als de teams stemrecht konden krijgen. Kunnen ze toch druk uit oefenen om de regels meer hun kant op te laten vallen.
    Ik denk dat vanuit financieel oogpunt dit goed kan uitvallen, als de populariteit van de F1 stijgt, dan stijgt het aandeel ook. Als een team zijn aandeel verkoopt, vooral de kleinere teams, kan deze makkelijker onder curatele uitkomen. Maar goed, er zal wel meer aan vast zitten dan deze redenatie.

      Waarschijnlijk zit er een addertje onder het gras met het terug verkopen van de aandelen. Ik verwacht dat er een contract getekend wordt dat de aandelen alleen aan Liberty terug verkocht kunnen worden. Anders komen na verloop van tijd de aandelen in handen van mensen van wie Liberty niet wil dat die mensen ze in de handen hebben.

      Ik denk dat juist de kleine teams helemaal geen aandelen gaan kopen. Als ze dreigen om te vallen (Manor) dan zullen ze die aandelen moeten verkopen voor de dagwaarde. En als die lager is dan de instapprijs zal hun schuldenlast alleen nog maar toenemen.

      De inspraak die de teams zouden krijgen (als er al stemrecht aan het aandeel gekoppeld zou zijn) is dan beperkt op het commerciële deel.

      Bovendien zouden de teams (als ze het maximale deel wat Liberty aanbiedt zouden aankopen) maximaal 20% van de aandelen in handen krijgen, dus geen meerderheid.

    De teams mogen dan wel beweren dat ze geen interresse hebben, maar ik ben der zeker van dat ze, hetzij onder een andere naam, hun zeggeschap in de f1 gaan kopen

      Dat is dus niet mogelijk. Alleen de teams krijgen de mogelijkheid om aandelen te kopen en niet iedere boerenlul met een beetje geld.

    Investeren in wat?
    Het feit dat de teams dit niet doen zegt mij dat liberty het echt goed moet gaan doen daar er anders misschien wel een revolutie gaat plaatsvinden. Nu eerst Bernie eruit, betere deals met de circuits maken, de tarieven voor de entree kaartjes omlaag en dan gaan we samen weer verder met een mooie show op wielen.
