Geruchten over GP in Londen vergaren momentum

De komst van Liberty Media als nieuwe eigenaar van de Formule 1 heeft de geruchten over een Grand Prix in de straten van Londen weer aangewakkerd. De nieuwe Formule 1-directeur Chase Carey is daar met uitspraken tegenover Press Association Sport zelf verantwoordelijk voor.

Hij zei namelijk: "Londen is een geweldige stad en het staat buiten kijf dat het een van de steden is die te binnen schieten als je vraagt in welke steden de Formule 1 actief zou moeten zijn. We hebben Silverstone, maar dat is geen Londen. Ik wil niet te veel verwikkeld raken in speculatie over een mogelijke Grand Prix in een bepaalde stad, maar Londen is een geweldige stad."

"Een race in Groot-Brittannië is belangrijk voor ons. We kijken uit naar een onderhoud met Silverstone om te praten over hoe we ervoor kunnen zorgen dat het evenement alles is dat we ervan verwachten. Er liggen absoluut nog mogelijkheden om de Grand Prix op Silverstone verder te laten groeien."

    Lijkt me prachtig. Een race door een stad, mits het wel echt een fatsoenlijke baan is.

    Ondanks dat Monaco wel echt iets magisch heeft, vind ik de baan alles behalve boeiend meer...

    Yess ik zie het al voor me: beginnen op de middenstip van Wembley, dan via het dak van Buckingham Palace via de looping van het london eye door de kelder van de Big Ben, over de balustrade van de tower bridge, heen en weer over Westminster Abbey zo terug naar Wenbley. IK KIJK ER NAAR UIT.
