FIA verdient bijna 80 miljoen dollar aan overname F1 door Liberty

Meerdere media melden dat de FIA bijna 80 miljoen dollar verdiend heeft aan de overname van de aandelen Formule 1 door Liberty Media. De internationale autosportfederatie nam in 2013 1% van de aandelen in de Formule 1 over van CVC Capital, de toenmalige eigenaars van de koningsklasse in de autosport. Aangezien de FIA het orgaan is dat de overname diende goed te keuren is er mogelijk sprake van belangenverstrengeling en dat is in strijd met regels die gelden binnen de EU.

Ook volgens het eigen FIA-regelement zijn dit soort situaties niet geoorloofd en mogelijk heeft dat consequenties voor de FIA. Bovendien kan dit er ook voor zorgen dat de overname achteraf niet rechtsgeldig verklaard wordt. Chase Carey, de nieuwe CEO in de Formule 1, reageerde als volgt op de mogelijke belangenverstrengeling: "Ik wil me niet bemoeien met zaken waar ik niks mee te maken heb. De deal die CVC en de FIA gesloten hebben, daar heeft Liberty niks mee te maken gehad. Ik heb pas een aantal maanden ervaring met de FIA, maar mijns inziens reguleren zij de sport op een faire manier."

      naar Manor, zodat diezelfde FIA nu nog steeds 11 teams op

      @PIETJE BELL: Nee, want dan staat Sauber vervolgens ook op de bedelstoep en wie weet welk team nog meer. F1 is een commercieel gebeuren en als jet het niet redt, pech gehad.
