Silverstone positief over toekomst van Britse GP

Bij Silverstone-eigenaar British Racing Drivers' Club is opgewekt gereageerd op de overname van de Formule 1 door Liberty Media. Dat verkondigde BRDC-voorzitter Derek Warwick aan Sky Sports F1. Silverstone hoeft niet te rekenen op andere voorwaarden, zoals een lagere fee, waarschuwde Formule 1-directeur Chase Carey.

Maar Liberty kan Silverstone ook op andere manieren te hulp schieten, stelt Warwick. "Vorige week maandag is de Formule 1 ingrijpend veranderd. We weten welke kant we opgaan met Liberty, we weten welke kant we opgaan met Silverstone. We zijn nu zeer positief dat we de Grand Prix kunnen laten werken voor ons en dat we in 2017 winst kunnen maken. We kijken uit naar 2017!"

"Liberty heeft ons laten weten dat ze misschien wat restricties die Bernie Ecclestone voor ons bedacht had zullen versoepelen. Te denken valt aan regelingen voor sponsoring, merchandising, marketing et cetera. Ik weet dat andere Grand Prix-locaties meer vrijheid hebben in hun contracten met Bernie dan wij hadden."
