Mallya bijt van zich af na nieuwe aantijgingen

Force India-teambaas Vijay Mallya lag in eigen land al hevig onder vuur, maar het Central Bureau of Intelligence (CBI) heeft deze week nog wat olie op het vuur gegooid. Volgens het CBI heeft de Indiase zakenman een deel van een zakelijke lening aangewend voor persoonlijke doeleinden. De instantie heeft bij Groot-Brittannië aangedrongen op uitlevering van Mallya.

De eigenaar van Force India bijt via Twitter van zich af na deze nieuwe aantijgingen. "Ik ben geschokt door deze beschuldigingen van het CBI. Die zijn op zijn zachtst gezegd allemaal onjuist en verkeerd begrepen. Wat weet een verzameling van elitaire politiemensen nou van zaken en economie? Het CBI verspreidt op selectieve basis e-mails die uit hun context zijn gehaald en zijn verdraaid om mij en het UPA-regime onderuit te halen."

Mallya voelt zich een speelbal in een machtsstrijd tussen twee politieke partijen, de United Progressive Alliance (UPA) en de National Democratic Alliance (NDA). "De media laten zich gebruiken als speelveld, ik ben de voetbal. Met de NDA en de UPA staan er twee uiterst competitieve teams op het veld. Helaas zijn er geen scheidsrechters bij de wedstrijd aanwezig."

De Force India-teambaas leeft al in ballingschap in Groot-Brittannië omdat de Indiase regering zijn paspoort heeft ingetrokken. Die maatregel is getroffen omdat Mallya bij herhaling verstek laat gaan in een rechtszaak die door schuldeisers tegen hem is aangespannen.

Ik weet de ins en outs niet van zijn boekhouding, maar het zou me niet verbazen als deze man de boel belazerd.

  De nationale bank van India zijn dan ook schuldig, plus wat mensen uit de overheid.
  
  Waar het kort gezegd op neer komt is dat de huidige overheid in India niet wil dat geld het land verlaat, zelfs niet als je daar schulden van betaald.

Helaas kan ik mij daar wel iets bij voorstellen. Zo zijn belastinginspecteurs geen fiscalisten en moet je, en je accountant, hun zaken uitleggen. En dan kan de situatie zomaar omslaan. Hoop stress en uiteindelijk kreeg ik zelfs geld terug. Heeft dagen extra werk gekost.

Daarnaast is er geen scherpe lijn tussen privé en zakelijk. Maar ik ken de details niet en wellicht is hij wel fout. We gaan het afwachten.
