Zanardi: "Hedendaagse F1 een beetje te saai"

Oud Formule 1-coureur Alex Zanardi heeft op dit moment weinig belangstelling voor de gebeurtenissen in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Op de vraag van Gazzetta dello Sport of hij de Formule 1 nog volgt, antwoordde de Italiaan: "De hedendaagse Formule 1 is een beetje te saai."

Hij legt uit waarom hij dat vindt: "De stewards hebben tegenwoordig de illusie dat zij de sterren zijn. Iedereen herinnert zich nog de inhaalactie die ik in 1996 tijdens een IndyCar-race op Laguna Seca in de Corkscrew maakte, maar zo'n manoeuvre zou op dit moment onmogelijk zijn in de Formule 1. De wedstrijdleiding zou gelijk een straf uitdelen."

"De regels zijn veranderd, net als de auto's. In de jaren negentig van de vorige eeuw legden de banden en het vermogen echt de nadruk op de kwaliteiten van de coureurs. In mijn generatie zaten er nog echte artiesten tussen. Nu zijn er ook getalenteerde rijders, maar ze worden zo snel aangepakt bij inhaalacties of wanneer ze ook maar enigszins risico's nemen. Daardoor zijn de coureurs bang om hun nek uit te steken. Dat gaat ten koste van de show."

      Zanardi heeft het over coureurs die inhaalacties plaatsen en risico nemen dus impliciet bedoeld hij daar Max mee.
      Dus Zanardi is de eerste ;-).

      @dizzy: haha, leuke interpretatie. Paolo had zelfs een heel erg vooruitziende blik. Onderstaand vertaald citaat komt uit een interview met Conte over het nummer 'Max':

      "Ik stelde me Max voor als een vriend, iemand die iets gevaarlijks doet, iets mysterieus. Een vriend om een beetje op afstand te houden dus. Misschien zou hij een autocoureur kunnen zijn"

      @MR M. Dacht eerst ook dat ie Max bedoelde, maar op het laatst had hij het over ’bang’ en dus kon het toch niet over Verstappen gaan.

    Hij hoort alleen de naam Max iedere keer en dat is natuurlijk een hele saaie coureur:)

    Wat een onzin.

    Het geheugen van de mens is nogal selectief en als er aan "vroeger" wordt gedacht herinneren de meesten alleen de mooie momenten.

    De periode Senna-Prost bijvoorbeeld was namelijk best saai, maar we herinneren vaak de spannende momenten en denken dan dat dit iedere race zo was, maar dat was echt niet het geval.

      Spijker op de kop. ^^^

      In die tijd lag het veld veel verder uit elkaar dan nu. Ook in het middenveld weinig tot geen inhaalacties. Dat is nu wel anders.... hoewel even afwachten voor dit jaar met die regelementswijzigingen.

    Als je alle acties van Max uit 2016 wegdenkt. Was het inderdaad erg saai. Maar gelukkig was Max er wel bij. En zal hij er in 2017 ook wel weer voor actie zorgen.

    Ja, 2016 was zo saai dat we de dagen naar de 1e race in 2017 aftellen. En in 2016 hebben we meerdere F1 momenten meegemaakt waar over 10 jaar nog over gesproken wordt.

      Je hebt gelijk, maar... het kan nog wel wat spannender. Daarom keken velen halverwege 2016 al een klein beetje en met een half oog uit naar 2017.
