'Silverstone ultieme test voor nieuwe F1-auto's'

De Formule 1 staat aan de vooravond van een nieuw tijdperk. De reglementen zijn voor 2017 grondig op de schop gegaan. De wagens moeten komend seizoen aanzienlijk sneller zijn dan vorig jaar, onder meer via extra mechanische grip met bredere banden en via extra aerodynamische grip door een toename van de downforce. Pirelli-motorsportbaas Paul Hembery verheugt zich op 2017.

Hij kijkt vooral uit naar Silverstone, met zijn vele vloeiende en snelle bochten. Hembery: "Ik ben enthousiast omdat het een verandering is. Alles word anders en het wordt uitdagender voor de coureurs, dat is wat ze wilden. Ze zullen extra G-krachten voelen in de bochten, sommige bochten zullen ze 40 kilometer per uur harder nemen dan voorheen."

"Op Silverstone zullen zes of zeven bochten vol gas zijn. Dat wordt de ultieme test voor de nieuwe Formule 1-auto's. Silverstone is snel en open en de bochten waren al 'grote mensen'-bochten. De coureurs kunnen zich echt verheugen op dat evenement."

Hoop dat de grootste bandenwijziging wordt dat je ze niet meteen (gedeeltelijk) kunt afschrijven als je gaat aanvallen.
En dat je wat minder zuinigjes aan moet doen maar echt kunt racen. Dat gezeur over de teamradio van “Je moet de komende 6 tot 8 ronden rustig aan doen.” Weg ermee. Dan verhe... [Lees verder]

      Mwahhaa, dat is maar ten dele waar, het al dan niet door rijden met (bijna) versleten banden is vaak een keuze , een onderdeel van de tacktiek... Wel mee eens dat het niet zo moet zijn dat ze versleten zijn na een paar rondjes slipstreamen zoals Max deed, waar was dat ookalweer, geloof de Gp van de Vs...

      @BS. Dat was niet één keer, maar door heel 2016 heen en bij alle coureurs.
      En ik (we?) wil(len) niet zoveel tactisch geneuzel over de radio van Wolff c.s. maar racen van de coureurs: aanvallen en verdedigen. Het echte werk!

    Ik kijk vooral uit naar Monaco!
    Door de aerodynamische beperkingen en de bijna 1000 pk sterke motoren werd er op veel circuits met vrijwel de maximale downforce gereden en kwamen de teams op Monaco downforce tekort.

    Met bredere banden en grotere diffusers is de downforce en grip nu zo groot dat op veel circuits de vleugels bijna vlak kunnen, anders komt de topsnelheid te veel in gedrang.
    Maar Monaco wordt beestachtig.
