12 uur van Bathurst van korte duur voor Robin Frijns

De 12 uur van Bathurst was voor Robin Frijns al voorbij voordat de race goed en wel begonnen was. Teamgenoot Frank Stippler nam de start en de eerste stint voor zijn rekening, maar de Duitser crashte al na zes rondjes. De Audi R8 LMS raakte daarbij te zwaar beschadigd om door te gaan.

Stippler blesseerde zich aan zijn ribben, maar kwam er verder ongeschonden vanaf. Frijns: "We hebben in het eerste uur in Bathurst een ongeluk gehad. Gelukkig maakt Frank het naar omstandigheden goed! Het was een leuke ervaring om een nieuw circuit te leren kennen en ik keer volgend jaar zeker terug."

De winst in Bathurst was voor Ferrari. Het trio Toni Vilander, Jamie Whincup en Craig Lowndes ging met de zege aan de haal.

Beetje sneu was het wel. Hij heeft uiteindelijk helaas geen meter gereden in de race.
