Renault in 2017 op jacht naar meer performance

Het fabrieksteam van Renault heeft 2017 reeds bestempeld als overgangsjaar, maar dat betekent niet dat ze geen duidelijke progressie willen zien. De Franse renstal heeft het proces om de top te bereiken vorig jaar in gang gezet en dat moet zich nu uitbetalen in een beter seizoen dan het afgelopen seizoen. Dat verklaarde directeur Cyril Abiteboul aan Autosport.

"Waar we naar op zoek gaan is meer performance. Als je zo snel mogelijk evoluties wil introduceren op de baan, zodra een concept klaar is om te gaan, dan heb je de capaciteit nodig om snel te reageren. Dat betekent dat je materiaal en mankracht ter plekke moet hebben, zodat je niet afhankelijk bent van leveranciers. We hebben geaccepteerd dat onze economische efficiëntie tijdelijk lager zal liggen in ons streven om voor de middellange tot lange termijn sterker uit de bus te komen."

"Red Bull Racing is het voorbeeld. Men beschouwt hen als een fantastisch centrum voor innovaties, wat ze ook zijn. Maar wat hen ook sterk maakt, is hun productiecapaciteit. De snelheid waarmee zij nieuwe onderdelen naar de circuits brengen is verbluffend. We hebben dat model jarenlang met eigen ogen mogen aanschouwen en soms was dat erg pijnlijk vanwege het immense verschil in de productietijd voor en de ontwikkeling van het chassis ten opzichte van de motor."

"Dat verklaart de problemen die we in 2014 en 2015 hadden. Daarentegen beseffen wij maar al te goed dat het model van Red Bull Racing veel sterke punten heeft en die elementen hebben we proberen te implementeren in onze eigen organisatie. Toen we begonnen, werkten er 475 teamleden aan het chassis. Daar hebben we ongeveer honderd mensen aan toegevoegd en het doel is om uiteindelijk rond de 650 uit te komen", aldus Abiteboul.

Ieder team jaagt op zo een best mogelijk resultaat, dat word drummen! Ben benieuwd wie als eerste de boot gemist heeft.

  Behalve Hakkinen en Coulthard die uitvielen gebeurde er in die race toch niet zo veel speciaal? Twee Ferrari's en een Williams op het podium is niet zo gek voor 2000.

Over 3 weken dan is er een mogelijkheid om te testen. Ik zou in de laatste 2 uur van de test het vermogen tot maximaal opschroeven, harde banden eronder, en vol er tegen aan. Ploft ie dan heb je pech. S'avonds kan de motor gewisseld worden en naar de fabriek terug om hem te onderzoeken. 3 teams, 8 dagen zijn 24 motoren voor gegevens.

675 mensen die dagelijks werken aan het chassis... omdat je je concurrent minimaal wilt bijbenen. Wat een geldverspilling! Uiteindelijk blijven de relatieve verschillen min of meer gelijk. Snel gaat het toch wel. Dus je kunt net zo goed maar met 25 man werken aan het chassis omdat de relatieve verschillen hetzelfde zullen zijn als met 675 mensen. En aan het eind van het verhaal zien we op de TV 2 uur lang een optocht van auto's met enkele echte inhaalactie waar DRS geen rol speelt. Dit maakt de sport juist kapot. Of ze een rondje doen in 1:43 of 1:39 interesseert niemand een bal. En of het geluid nu 95, 102 db is of 107 db is? Het doet allemaal niet toe dan alleen dat je gehoorschade meer of minder is.

De kijker wil een wedSTRIJD zien met veel auto's die min of meer gelijk zijn. Laat de beste coureur, met de minste pech, winnen!
