Briatore verwacht meer van hetzelfde van Ferrari

Voormalig teambaas Flavio Briatore denkt niet dat Ferrari komend seizoen een bedreiging zal vormen voor Mercedes en Red Bull Racing. De Scuderia heeft een relatief rustige winter achter de rug. In dit geval is continuïteit geen goed teken, vindt Briatore.

De Italiaan vertelde aan Sky Sport 24: "Het team van Ferrari is nog steeds hetzelfde. Met dezelfde oven en dezelfde bakkers zal de kwaliteit van het brood ook hetzelfde blijven. Het enige dat anders is, is dat Sergio Marchionne geen gewaagde uitspraken meer heeft gedaan."

Ook Red Bull Racing dicht hij weinig kansen toe in de strijd tegen Mercedes. Briatore: "Het voordeel van Mercedes is onoverbrugbaar. Bovendien beschikken ze met Lewis Hamilton over een coureur die vorig jaar meer de dj uithing dan rijder. Dit seizoen zal zijn attitude anders zijn."

Naast Hamilton zit dit jaar Valtteri Bottas. Volgens de geruchten had ook Fernando Alonso de oversteek naar Mercedes kunnen maken om Nico Rosberg op te volgen, maar dat is volgens Briatore nooit aan de orde geweest. Hij is nog steeds betrokken bij het management van de Spanjaard.

"Er zijn nooit gesprekken geweest tussen Fernando en Mercedes. Er zijn alleen ongefundeerde geruchten geweest. Er is zelfs gespeculeerd dat Niki Lauda het contract van Alonso wilde inzien om te speuren naar clausules, maar alle contracten liggen op het kantoor van de FIA in Genève."

Gelukkig is het nog altijd zo dat de praktijk best wel eens wat anders uit kan pakken dan de theorie.
Als alles op papier al vast zou staan, dan zouden ze niet eens hoeven te racen ...
Ik heb geen blind vertrouwen in de glazen bol van Flavio.

  Die schijn je cadeau te krijgen als je langer dan 5 jaar in de F1 gewerkt hebt, alleen zijn ze waarschijnlijk "Made in Italy" waardoor ze zomar ineens kunnen uitvallen :)

  Het schijnt dat Flavio wel ooit iets gedaan heeft binnen de F1. Het zou me zelfs niet verwonderen als hij hier en daar wat bekenden in het wereldje heeft en af en toe wat informatie opvangt. Lol.
