McLaren overpeinst deelname aan Le Mans

McLaren overweegt een terugkeer in de 24 uur van Le Mans. Die afweging rust deels op de schouders van nieuwe directeur Zak Brown, zo laat hij aan Autosport weten. McLaren nam in 1998 voor het laatst deel aan de 24 uur van Le Mans.

Brown: "We hebben Le Mans gewonnen en de race maakt deel uit van onze historie. Het is één van mijn taken om te bepalen of McLaren daar weer moet gaan racen. Terugkeren naar Le Mans is iets waarover gesproken wordt binnen McLaren. Persoonlijk zie ik ons graag weer meedoen aan Le Mans, en ik ben niet de enige met die mening."

De overwinning van McLaren in Le Mans dateert uit 1995, toen JJ Lehto, Masanori Sekiya en Yannick Dalmas in de McLaren F1 GTR de zege in de wacht sleepten.
