De Formule 1 krijgt komend seizoen een ander karakter. De wagens worden een flink stuk sneller door middel van extra downforce en alsof dat niet genoeg is, worden er ook nog bredere banden geïntroduceerd. Dat betekent een groter raakvlak met het wegdek en dus automatisch meer grip. De monteurs van de teams krijgen wel hun handen vol aan de bredere en zwaardere banden. Mercedes is in elk geval al druk aan het oefenen op pitstops.
