Williams benoemt De Beer tot hoofd aerodynamica

Dirk de Beer is de nieuwe hoofd aerodynamica bij het team van Williams. De Zuid-Afrikaan treedt per 1 maart in dienst bij de Britse renstal. De Beer werkte eerder voor Sauber, Renault/Lotus en Ferrari, waar hij vorig jaar zijn ontslag indiende.

"Ik ben verguld om me bij Williams te voegen", steekt hij van wal. "Deze renstal heeft een prachtige erelijst in de Formule 1 en ik ben trots om nu onderdeel uit te maken van dit iconische team. Ik kijk ernaar uit om samen met Dave Wheater en de rest van de aero-afdeling van Williams aan de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe auto te werken. Ik ben Frank Williams dankbaar voor deze kans."

Vice-teambaas Claire Williams: "We zijn dolblij om iemand met de ervaring van Dirk aan ons te binden. Na enkele jaren als hoofd aerodynamica in de Formule 1 vormen zijn kennis en technische expertise een aanwinst in onze poging om Williams weer te positioneren als een van de topteams."
