Lauda-Wolff de perfecte tandem voor Mercedes

Onder leiding van Niki Lauda en Toto Wolff groeide het team van Mercedes de afgelopen jaren uit tot een goed geoliede machine die de titels aaneen reeg. Het wekt dan ook weinig verbazing of verwondering dat moederbedrijf Daimler de contracten van het tweetal verlengde tot eind 2020.

Lauda en Wolff vormen de ideale roergangers voor Mercedes. Lauda: "De afgelopen seizoenen behoorden tot mijn meest plezierige jaren in de Formule 1. Toto en ik vormen de perfecte tandem voor Mercedes en we hebben op elk vlak een geweldig team dat resultaten levert. Ik bedank Dieter Zetsche en de andere leden van het Daimler-bestuur voor hun onophoudelijke vertrouwen."

Wolff: "Winnen komt nooit tot stand door individuen. Het gaat erom de juiste groep mensen bij elkaar te brengen, hen afstemmen op dezelfde doelstelling en dan hun talenten combineren om dat doel te verwezenlijken. Elke dag kom ik in de fabriek en voel ik me nederig vanwege het voorrecht om met zo'n inspirerende groep mensen te mogen werken."
