Renault harkt Mapfre als nieuwe sponsor binnen

Het team van Renault heeft een nieuwe naam aan het sponsorportfolio toegevoegd. Mapfre, een Spaanse verzekeringsmaatschappij, slaat de handen ineen met de Franse renstal. Het logo van het bedrijf zal te zien zijn op de nieuwe RS17, die morgen gepresenteerd wordt.

Renault-directeur Cyril Abiteboul: "Het stemt me content dat Mapfre voor ons heeft gekozen voor hun toetreding tot de Formule 1. Mapfre heeft globale naamsbekendheid voor ogen en onze renstal is het perfecte platform om dat te bereiken. Mapfre is een geweldig merk met begrip van sponsoring en ze zijn goed uitgerust om waarde aan deze samenwerking toe te voegen. We hopen ze in 2017 te belonen met een flinke stap vooruit in onze performance."

    Hmmm......Mapfre, grote jongen hier in Spanje. Geen Spaanse coureur bij Renault. Weet Mapfre meer dan wij en wordt Carlos volgend jaar het gezicht van de verzekeraar?

      Mapfre sponsort ook Spaanse teams en coureurs in de Moto gp, dus dat is helemaal niet zo'n gekke gedachte.

      Een overstap naar Renault is voor Sainz niet verkeerd. En zeker geen slechte keus voor Renault. Geloof niet dat Palmer het nog een seizoen gaat flikken. En STR begrijp ik wel, dat ze vorig seizoen Sainz geen onderdeel lieten zijn van de motordeal. Met de nieuwe generatie auto's op komt, kiezen ze voor zekerheid en toch wel een beetje kennis van hoe het spelletje werkt. . En in het talenten programma van RB zitten genoeg jongens (Gasly, Verschoor bijv.) die ze klaar kunnen stomen voor het echte werk.

      Zou kunnen, zou niet kunnen... Spanje heeft geen F1 team. Als Mapfre in de F1 wil sponsoren moeten ze sowieso buiten Spanje kijken. En in het buitenland willen ze ook juist naamsbekendheid op gaan bouwen, dat is het grote doel. Om dat te bereiken konden ze met Renault misschien de beste deal maken.
      Misschien willen ze daarom juist geen Spaanse coureur, immers in Spanje zijn ze al groot. Twee coureurs uit andere landen zorgt voor een betere spreiding van hun naam.
      Zo kan het dus prima zijn dat er helemaal geen link is met Sainz (of Alonso).

      Kan heel goed. Sainz moet na dit seizoen toch weg bij STR, daar komt de volgende NL-lastpak ;-)
      Maar om elke Spaanse sponsor gelijk aan een Spaane coureur te koppelen is ook onzin; alsof alle Nederlandse sponsoren Max naar zich toe trekken. Randstad anyone.. Proost!
