Mooi startveld voor Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup

De Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup wordt dit jaar een interessante klasse om te volgen. Het startveld bevat een aantal grote talenten. Richard Verschoor uit de opleiding van Red Bull en Jarno Opmeer uit het programma van Renault vormen de Nederlandse troeven. Tot de tegenstanders behoren Max Fewtrell, Daniel Ticktum, Luis Leeds, Neil Verhagen en Will Palmer.

Ziggo Sport-commentator Rick Winkelman zegt ook: "De Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup wordt dit jaar nieuw leven ingeblazen. Er rijdt komend seizoen een talentvolle lichting in de Formule Renault." In Nederland zal de meeste aandacht uitgaan naar de verrichtingen van Verschoor en Opmeer, die net als vorig jaar in de Formule 4, teamgenoten zijn bij MP Motorsport.

Winkelman: "Deze supertalenten hoeven nauwelijks voor elkaar onder te doen. Verschoor is natuurlijk kampioen geworden in de Formule 4 en heeft meer internationale kartervaring, maar ik denk dat Opmeer net zo goed is. Hij heeft zich vorig jaar knap teruggeknokt na een dipje. Daarmee heeft hij zich in de kijker gereden bij Renault."

Opmeer is op aanraden van voormalig teambaas Frederic Vasseur door Renault vastgelegd. Het opstappen van de Fransman begin dit jaar zou geen consequenties hebben voor de 16-jarige Nederlander. "Hij is erg getalenteerd en ze hebben bij Renault gewoon heel veel vertrouwen in hem. Opmeer gaat nu ook niet terug naar Nederland. Hij moet gelijk aan de slag bij Renault in Enstone."

Het zou niemand verbazen als Ziggo Sport de Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup in 2017 uit zou willen zenden. F1Today.net zocht contact met de sportzender, maar een woordvoerder laat weten dat het kanaal nog niets prijs wil geven over de plannen of eventuele nieuwe rechten voor komend seizoen.

Wordt zeker een interessant dit jaar! Voorgaande jaren werdt deze klasse uitgezonden door Eurosport met Rene Hoogterp als uitstekende commentator. Die doet nu al de Formule E op Ziggo, dus als ze deze klasse gaan uitzenden hebben ze al meteen de juiste commentator in huis.

Let wel dat er van de Renault Formule 2.0 drie verschillende klasses zijn, naast de Eurocup waar dus Opmeer en Verschoor in gaan rijden, heb je ook de NEC (Northern Europe) en de ASIA varianten. De NEC variant racet tijdens de Max Verstappen dagen. De Eurocup zit dan op het circuit in Pau...

  Eurocup is de meest aansprekende klasse van alle Renault 2.0 klasses. Alleen deze is op eurosport uitgezonden afgelopen jaar. Mocht Ziggo Sport het gaan uitzenden dan is het ook alleen deze klasse.

Zit ze maar flink achter de broek; )
Het zou geweldig zijn voor de Nederlandse autosport als er meer verschillende Race klassen op de buis zouden komen. Misschien zelfs wel verschillende kartklasse's gaan uitzenden of compilaties laten zien.

Goed voor de sport en voor Ziggo; )
