McLaren neemt Norris op in opleidingsprogramma

Lando Norris heeft een plekje in het talentenprogramma van McLaren-Honda verworven. Dat hebben de 17-jarige coureur en de Britse renstal bekendgemaakt. Norris zal komend seizoen in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 uitkomen.

Hij won vorig jaar titels in de Toyota Racing Series, de Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup en de Formule Renault 2.0 NEC, terwijl hij in 2015 al kampioen werd in de MSA Formula. Norris geldt als een van de grootste talenten op de internationale circuits.

Voor zijn prestaties in 2016 ontving hij eind vorig jaar al de McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. Daarmee verdiende Norris een Formule 1-test in een oude auto van McLaren. De Britse renstal gaat zich nu intensief ontfermen over zijn carrière.

McLaren presenteerde gelijk het nieuwe logo van het Young Driver Programme. Het lijkt een nieuwe verwijzing naar een oranje livery voor de bolide voor 2017.

    Grappig. Vorig jaar nog tegen hem ge -Iracet. Toen was ie al retesnel zonder veel practice en met onmogelijke setup. Leuk dat ie het goed doet.

      @Marnoldi, Ik heb vorig jaar wat setups voor Lando gemaakt. Erg leuke, en vriendelijke knul met ontzettend veel talent. de Vries kan inpakken, helaas.

      Gewoon Iracing. De GPL van nu. ;) En het is online, waardoor je voornamelijk normaal en serieus racet tegen anderen.
      @JVH: cool, ja, is aardige gast. Wist vorig jaar niet eens dat ie aan iets meedeed, totdat iemand het toevallig zei.

      Lando is een beetje het best bewaarde geheim geweest de afgelopen seizoenen. Deze jongen heeft enorm veel potentieel, en heeft er een goede kop op zitten zeg maar. Hij heeft geen neigingen tot hoogmoedswaanzin o.i.d. 1,5 jaar terug stuurde hij ineens een berichtje op Instagram of ik hem wilde helpen met de setups. Hij had toen vooral moeite met het omschakelen van de Q naar de R. Het is hem van harte gegund, EN ik verwacht ontzettend veel van Lando. Dit heeft zeer waarschijnlijk gevolgen voor de Vries. Eerlijk is eerlijk, Nick heeft zijn kansen onderhand wel gehad lijkt mij zo.
