Oud Ferrari-President: "Räikkönen is niet de toekomst van Ferrari"

Oud Ferrari-President Luca di Montezemolo is van mening dat Ferrari risico’s neemt waar het aankomt op de Formule 1. Eind 2014 werd Montezemolo vervangen omdat hij sinds 2008 geen constructeurstitel wist te winnen in de Formule 1.

In een kort gesprek met de Italiaanse radio Rai vertelt hij: "Ferrari heeft keuzes gemaakt die risico’s met zich meebrengen. Zij willen de auto volledig vervaardigd hebben door Italiaanse ingenieurs, maar in de Formule 1 heb je de beste mensen ter wereld nodig."

De 69-jarige Montezemolo waarschuwt Ferrari dat deze strategie mogelijk het geduld van Vettel op de proef stelt. Vettel heeft pas 3 Grand Prix zeges in de Ferrari en zal volgens Montezemolo na een paar races bepalen hoe concurrerend de SF70-H is om vervolgens te kijken waar zijn toekomst ligt.

Dan doet hij een harde uitspraak over Kimi Räikkönen. "Räikkönen? Hij is niet de toekomst van Ferrari."

Hij erkent dat de eerste dagen van de tests in Barcelona hoopgevend zijn, maar wil niet te snel juichen. In Melbourne moet de auto goed presteren, dan pas kan hij echt positief zijn.

      tuurlijk is Raikkonen niet de toekomstvan Ferrari, hij is al bijna aan het eind van z,n formule 1 carriere :P, misschien hierna nog 1 jaar, maar daarna ?

      Is er iemand die dan dacht dat Kimi de toekomst va Ferrari zou zijn? Iedereen weet toch dat hij in de winter van zijn loopbaan verkeert. Al hoop ik dat dit nog 1x een superjaar voor em wordt.

      Kimi doet het uitstekend en zit helemaal niet bij Ferrari voor de toekomst. Hij presteert nu! Niet chique van di Montezemolo. Als je geen verantwoordelijkheid meer draagt mag je wel wat zorgvuldiger je woorden kiezen.

    In 2015 won Vettel toch echt 3 races in een Ferrari... ipv 1 wat hij zegt.

    Kimi was in 2016 beter (vond ik) dan Vettel, dus de uitspraken van deze man moet je niet te serieus nemen.

    Kimi heeft me juist positief verrast vorig seizoen, die is ook al een daggie ouder en daarom des te knapper. Over de invulling van het personeel in de fabriek, en de te grote Italiaanse inbreng in het team ben ik het wel met hem eens.

      Mij niet, Raikkonen heeft niet veel beter gepresteerd dan het jaar voordien. Vettel heeft aan het begin van het seizoen veel pech en blunders van Ferrari moeten verwerken. Toen Ferrari en Vettel in de FP's voor 2017 begonnen te testen, toen kon Raikkonen beter meekomen.

    Dacht dacht ik eerlijk gezegd ook over Raikkonen, echter heeft Raikkonen mij vorig seizoen serieus verbaasd door niet onder te doen voor Vettel.
    Kan natuurlijk zijn dat Raikkonen beter is gaan rijden, of dat Vettel slechter is gaan rijden..
