Onderzoek EC naar overname F1 door Liberty Media niet van de baan

De overname van de Formule 1 door Liberty Media blijft de gemoederen bezighouden. Een paar dagen geleden werd gemeld dat deze overname niet nader onderzocht zou worden door de Europese Commissie. Correspondentie van eurocommissaris Anneliese Dodds was hier voor de aanleiding. 

Een woordvoerder van Dodds zei dat de berichtgeving rond dit onderwerp 'vervelend genoeg' fundamenteel fout was. "Ik ga met Anneliese over deze kwestie praten zodra zij later vandaag in Brussel arriveert. Wij zullen dan over nadere stappen nadenken." Die denksessie resulteerde in een officiële verklaring van de eurocommissaris dat een onderzoek naar de overname en de mogelijke belangenverstrengeling van de FIA nog steeds tot de mogelijkheden behoort.

Ook de verdeling van het prijzengeld zijn onderwerp van onderzoek, grote teams krijgen het grootste deel van het prijzengeld ongeacht de prestaties op het circuit. Dit gaat ten koste van de kleinere teams. "De Commissaris sluit een onderzoek naar de zorgen over de concurrentie in de sport niet uit. Niet in het minst omdat er ook nog een lopend onderzoek is na bezwaren van Force India en Sauber."

Wordt ongetwijfeld weer vervolgd...

    Dit wordt mij als pure race f1-fan een beetje te ingewikkeld hoor...

      Nou ja, als je het objectief bekijkt, dan zit de constructie van de F1 al jaren fundamenteel fout in elkaar. Als de EU daar verandering in kan brengen zou dat niet verkeerd zijn. Het zou het voor de kleinere teams dragelihjker maken en ze zouden wat competetiever zijn tov. de grote teams, dat zou de show ten goede komen. Maar in de F1 zijn de dingen altijd net ff wat anders ;-)

      Zij heeft dat blijkbaar niet, maar op zich is het een goede zaak dat er wat aan de verdeling van de inkomsten gaat gebeuren lijkt me. Komen er misschien nog extra teams bij, ipv dat er alleen maar afvallen omdat het steeds onbetaalbaarder word.

      Het komt de F1 in de breedte ten goede wanneer er eerlijker geld wordt verdeeld. Dus is het goed dat daar aandacht aan besteed gaat worden.

      Nog 30 keer van Brussel naar Straatsburg heen en neer verhuizen en dan volgt er een mededeling dat de zaak grondig wordt onderzocht en dat de onderste steen boven moet komen... binnen 10 en 50 jaar.
