Monza wil record atletiekmarathon scherper stellen

Een atletiekmarathon op een Formule 1-circuit. Klinkt gek, maar Monza gaat het in samenwerking met Nike organiseren. Het doel is om het wereldrecord op de marathon te verbreken. 

De organisatie is van mening dat het circuit van Monza ideaal gelegen is om dit record te verbreken en de magische grens van 2 uur zou dan doorbroken moeten worden. De Keniaanse marathonloper Eliud Kipchoge, Leslisa Desia uit Ethiopië en de Eritreër Zersenay Tadese gaan 17 rondjes van 2,4 kilometer afleggen. 

Het is klimaat in Lombardije is volgens kenners perfect en ook de hoogte (200 meter boven zeeniveau) zou ideaal zijn. De eerste test is gisteren gelopen door de drie heren. Twee van hen kwamen op de halve marathon uit onder het uur: 59:17 was de snelste tijd. 

Wanneer de recordrace gelopen wordt is nog niet bekend.

      het schijnt zelfs dat een Keniaan zo gruwelijk hard liep dat deze in de Parabolica de controle over zijn Nike's verloor en zwaar crashte, moest met de trauma helikopter worden afgevoerd, maakt het nu naar omstandigheden gelukkig weer goed..

    Het doel is overigens niet om het wereldrecord te verbreken, maar puur om onder de twee uur te duiken. De kans is bijvoorbeeld groot dat een eventueel record niet eens erkend zal worden, omdat men met gangmaker wil werken die op bepaalde punten de wedstrijd betreden (terwijl die in principe vanaf de start mee moeten lopen voor een geldig record). Het gaat Nike dan ook 100% om het doorbreken van de grens van twee uur, niet zo zeer om het record :)

    Ik snap dat ze de kosten van Racen omlaag willen brengen, om zo meer teams on de grid te krijgen..
    Je ziet meteen dus al Teams uit landen als Kenia en Ethiopie op Monza gaan testen, maar om deze coureurs niet eens een auto te geven, is wel erg goedkoop.

    Weet niet hoe de lengte van de baan gerekent word. Maar als het midden van de baan het referentie punt is, dan komen ze door de binnenbochten amper aan de 40 km. Dan snap ik dat ze onder de 2 uur denken te komen
