Voor GP2-kampioen Pierre Gasly was voor dit jaar nog geen plek in de Formule 1, dus zocht hij zijn heil elders. De Fransman is door Red Bull ondergebracht in de Super Formula, een route die Stoffel Vandoorne ook aflegde. De eerste tests zijn inmiddels achter de rug.
