Lowe per direct technisch directeur bij Williams

Het team van Williams heeft de komst van Paddy Lowe eindelijk bevestigd. Lowe treedt per direct als technisch directeur in dienst bij de Britse renstal. Daarnaast krijgt hij een deel van de aandelen in Williams in handen. Lowe begon in 1987 zijn loopbaan in de Formule 1 bij Williams en hij was verder werkzaam voor McLaren en Mercedes. Bij Williams volgt hij Pat Symonds op.

Lowe: "Ik heb altijd veel respect voor Williams - mijn eerste werkgever in de Formule 1 - gehad. Het is een enorme eer om terug te keren in een leidinggevende rol en om aandeelhouder te worden. Ik ben zeer gemotiveerd om het team aan nieuwe successen te helpen. De toekomstvisie die het bestuur van Williams heeft uitgestippeld is krachtig en heeft me overtuigd om me te voegen bij een organisatie die wil bouwen op het unieke erfgoed en terug wil keren aan de top. Ik kijk enorm uit naar deze nieuwe fase in mijn carrière."

Vice-teambaas Claire Williams: "Het doet me deugd dat we erin geslaagd zijn om Paddy terug te halen naar Williams. Iemand van het kaliber van Lowe en met zijn vaardigheden als engineer aan boord hebben is niet alleen een morele opsteker voor iedereen binnen het team, het is ook een flinke steun in de rug voor onze inspanningen om terug te klauteren naar de top van de Formule 1. Onze ambities zijn onverminderd hoog, wij willen races en kampioenschappen winnen. Daar heb je meest getalenteerde mensen voor nodig."

  Kracht van deze site zit m in het feit dat er hier levendig gediscussieerd wordt over de berichten, niet dat ze altijd het snelste zijn met nieuws(hoewel ze er bij Max Torro Rosso>Red Bull volgens mij als eerste bij waren).

Mooi om te zien dat Williams veel aan het investeren is in kwaliteit. Ben nog steeds groot fan van het team en mooi om te zien dat dit soort teams kunnen blijven bestaan.

  Ja, er is genoeg te doen, met Lance erbij mag je vaak naar de burelen van de FIA Paddy, want dat kun je Claire in haar uppie niet aandoen.

De kennis die hij in z'n kleine koppie heeft over die W07 & W08..
Zal Williams zeker geen kwaad doen, met name op mechanisch vlak wat nog wel eens hun zwakke punt bleek

  Op hoge snelheidscircuits deed Williams het meestal behoorlijk goed, maar voor de rest was het matig en op Monaco zelfs zeer slecht.
