Teams zagen haaienvinnen als extra sponsorruimte

De haaienvinnen hebben een comeback gemaakt bij de Formule 1-bolides voor 2017. Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner heeft nog getracht om de verlengde motorkappen te laten verbieden, tevergeefs. Een meerderheid van de teams stemde voor het toestaan van de haaienvin.

Niki Lauda wekt nu de suggestie dat Mercedes het voorstel van Red Bull Racing om de haaienvinnen te verbannen steunde. "De haaienvin was een flink discussiepunt in de Strategy Group", verklaarde de drievoudig wereldkampioen aan de Oostenrijkse zender ORF.

"De andere teams beargumenteerden dat ze met de haaienvin extra ruimte voor sponsoring kregen, daarom was een meerderheid voor het behoud ervan." De ironie wil dat geen van de renstallen op dit moment een sponsornaam op de haaienvin heeft geplakt.

De haaienvin dient ook een aerodynamisch doel; de verlengde motorkap stabiliseert de luchtstromen op weg naar de achtervleugel.

Zet er dan op zijn minst maar heel ouderwets een groot wit vlak met een zwart racenummer op... ipv de vaak onopvallende nummers tussen de reclame in. Zo is het voor alle toeschouwers langs de baan ook prima te volgen zonder op de camera's te focussen.

    Het maakt de reclame op de achtervleugel minder zichtbaar, schuin van voren af gezien.
    Ik zou als sponsor op de achtervleugel niet blij zijn met die vinnen.

    Dit klopt niet, de toro rosso, renault, mclaren en williams hebben allemaal sponsoring op de haaienvin staan.

      @NoveSedici; je hebt helemaal gelijk, maar je snap t het nog steeds niet hé...; de F1 NV ziet de toeschouwers langs de baan als aanvulling om het sfeerplaatje op TV wat te verhogen zodat het voor sponsors interessanter wordt te adverteren bij of rondom races. De toeschouwers zijn er voor hun, is de visie van F1, niet andersom. Het is te belachelijk voor woorden dat je auto's uit elkaar moet gaan houden door te kijken naar de kleur van de camera op de airbox natuurlijk.

    ja dat ze daar eens aan beginnen duidelijke nummering en net als in andere klasse verlicht met lampjes die de positie aangeven 1 2 en 3 lampjes

    Red bull was tegen maar dacht dat ze hem wel gebruikte tijdens de test of zit ik er nu naast, mercedes heeft met en zonder getest

      Red Bull was ertegen, omdat zij zonder vin sowieso een voordeel zouden hebben op de andere teams...Maar de vinnen leveren ook voor RBR winst, alleen een kleinere winst dan voor andere teams...

      Dus even als voorbeeld, cijfers zijn fictief: zonder vinnen had RBR 0.3 voorsprong op de rest...Teams schroeven vinnen erop en krijgen 0.5 voordeel...Dan zou RBR dus zonder vind opeens 0.2 verlies hebben ten opzichte van die teams...Dus schroeft RBR ook een vin erop, waarmee ze dat verlies dan weer goedmaken :)

      Dus ja ze waren erop tegen, maar als alle teams het toch doen, moeten zij ook wel...

    Reclame is echt het belangrijkste punt geweest om ze toch goed te keuren..

      niet helemaal waar, veel teams hebben echt groot voordeel van die dingen in de bochten, daar krijgen ze veel grip van die zeilen.
      rbr en mb veel minder omdat die de omstreden ophanging hebben.
