Eric Boullier weet nog niet of de McLarens de de finishlijn halen in Australië

Dat er problemen zijn bij het team van McLaren behoeft geen nadere toelichting meer. Het is waarschijnlijk het meest besproken team van de Formule 1 op dit moment. Ook David Coulthard deed nog even een duit in het zakje door te zeggen dat excuses niet tellen in de Formule 1. 

McLaren-teambaas Eric Boullier werd door de Spaanse krant AS gevraagd of hij denkt dat zijn bolides de finish halen in Australië. Boullier: "Ik hoop van wel, maar ik weet het niet. We hebben meer problemen dan dat we verwachtte. We wisten dat we tegen bepaalde zaken aan zouden lopen, maar niet zoveel als we nu zien."

Boullier blijft volhouden dat het McLaren-chassis een goede basis is voor komend seizoen: "We hebben geprobeerd het chassis, de downforce, de ophanging, alles wat we maar konden te verbeteren. Speciaal voor Australië worden er nog onderdelen ingevlogen."

Maar natuurlijk draait alles om de Honda-motor en daarover zegt hij: "Ik weet niet of de Honda-motor goed genoeg is om te concurreren met Mercedes, Ferrari en Renault. Maar als dat wel het geval is dan zullen wij concurrerend zijn."

De kans is groot dat de gemiddelde Formule 1-fan dat laatste pas gelooft als de auto's de finishlijn passeren.

      De laatste 50 rondjes kan Boullier toch wel een McLaren duwen. Die opgeblazen baguettebakker kan wel wat beweging gebruiken. Dan kan Honda-ceo Harakiri de andere wagen wel over de finishlijn duwen.

    Belgische hulp wordt nog ingevlogen, de Honda gaat op afgewerkte frituurolie perfect lopen.... allez he... Maar serieus,, triest verhaal alles bijelkaar.... F1 wordt er niet beter van zo,n fail-Honda....

      @PAD. Laat je niet gek maken, er zullen nog wel vaker van dit soort opmerkingen – die waarschijnlijk grappig bedoeld zijn – gemaakt worden de komende jaren.
      Toch zal het overgrote merendeel van de verstandige en volwassen Nederlandse F1-liefhebbers zich steeds achter Vandoorne blijven scharen. Of Stoffel moet hele rare dingen gaan doen maar dat verwacht ik niet.

    Alonso zie ik nog wel tijdens het seizoen uitstappen als het dramatisch blijft na de zomer. Als z'n contract dat toelaat uiteraard, maar dat denk ik wel anders hadden ze Button niet in dienst gehouden

    Een voordeel is dat dit jaar de tokens zijn afgeschaft dus ze kunnen het hele jaar blijven doorontwikkelen . Ik verwacht dat ze halverwege het seizoen in ieder geval de betrouwbaarheid op orde hebben.

      Ja, als aanvulling. Er wordt heel negatief over Honda gesproken, maar dit is natuuurlijk een nasleep van het tokensysteem. Veel minder data van een krachtige motor leid op dit niveau tot achterstand. Zal mij niets verbazen als het halverwege het seizoen. Redelijk competitief is.

    Boullier loopt al jaren het Mclaren chassis de hemel in te prijzen, maar omdat zij als enige team met een Honda motor rijden, is dat helemaal nergens op gebaseerd natuurlijk.

    McLaren wilde zelf dat Honda niet aan andere teams ging leveren.
    Dus niet zeiken en op de blaren zitten. beetje zielig doen helpt niet.

    Lage streken om Honda voor het seizoen al meerdere keren zo in de zeik te nemen.
