Bleekemolen winnaar van de 12 uur van Sebring

Jeroen Bleekemolen heeft samen met teamgenoten Ben Keating en Mario Farnbacher de 12 uur van Sebring op zijn naam geschreven in de GTD-klasse. Een bijzondere winst; het is de eerste zege van Mercedes in pas de tweede race van het Duitse merk in het IMSA-kampioenschap.

Bleekemolen en zijn teamgenoten moesten de 12 uur van Sebring als zevende in hun klasse aanvangen met de Mercedes-AMG GT3. Het zou echter niet lang duren voordat de Mercedes met startnummer 33 aan de leiding kwam te liggen dankzij een sterke stint van Bleekemolen.

In de slotfase moest het team van Riley Motorsports na de laatste neutralisatie even de leiding afstaan aan de Ferrari 488 GT3 met startnummer 63 van Scuderia Corsa, maar Bleekemolen nam geen genoegen met de tweede plek en stuurde zijn Mercedes drie kwartier voor het einde langs de Ferrari van Alessandro Balzan, om de leiding vervolgens niet meer uit handen te geven.
