Liberty Media gaat verder met nieuw social media beleid

Liberty Media heeft de versoepeling van de regels omtrent social media doorgetrokken naar de Grand Prix van Australië. In Barcelona waren de fans aangenaam verrast door alle video's en foto's die rijders en teams op bijvoorbeeld Twitter plaatsten. Voor Liberty Media draait de Formule 1 om de fans en dat laten ze op meerdere manieren blijken. Zo wordt ook de paddock toegankelijk voor publiek bijvoorbeeld.

Tot vlak voor de wintertest was het strikt verboden om bij de Formule 1 video's te maken en Bernie Ecclestone hield dat persoonlijk in de gaten als dat nodig was. Vandaag zagen wij na de vrije training bijvoorbeeld Lewis Hamilton een rondleiding bij het team van Mercedes geven, maar zo zijn er inmiddels talloze voorbeelden. Teambaas bij Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, hoopte al dat televisiestations het nieuwe beleid niet in de weg zouden staan en heeft dus gehoor gevonden.

Er zijn aan het nieuwe beleid wel restricties en moeten teams stoppen op het moment dat de TV zenders gaan filmen. Zo kan een team niet filmen dat een rijder de box verlaat om het circuit op te gaan.

De komende dagen kunnen de fans nog meer verwachten van onder andere Lewis Hamilton:

Vraag me af of Bernie nu nog wel wil komen kijken dit seizoen. Als hij dit hoort hoe "zijn" F1 te grabbel wordt gegooid. Jarenlang de hele tent hermetisch dicht gehouden te hebben, komt nu alles wagenwijd open te staan.

Waarom wilde Bernie het zo hermetisch afgesloten hebben? Merkte hij niet dat de wereld aan het veranderen was/is en zeker omtrent social media?

  Omdat hij het exclusief wilde houden, limited access, torenhoge prijzen.. en inkomsten!
  Tijdens zijn tijdperk werkte dat prima, de F1 verkoopprijs van CVC aan Liberty zegt in dat opzicht genoeg

  Bernie had niets maar ook echt niets op met moderne communicatie middelen, met voorname internet had hij niets mee op.
  
  Ook was zijn instelling dat de F1 voor de rijken was, dit vanuit de historie van de F1 en wilde deze exclusiviteid waarborgen.
  De plebs waren er om inkomen te genereren, en mochten bij godsgratie...ermm nee bij Berniesgratie op tribunes meekijken, en voor hoge bedragen kijken op TV.
  
  Ene kant ben ik blij hij weg is om bovenstaande redenen, andere kant was hij wel die het heeft opgebouwt vanaf een rijke heren hobbie tot een wereldwijde miljarden sport.
  
  Ik hoop/denk dat Liberty erg toch meer een toegankelijke sport van maakt a'la NASCAR zonder het redneck gehalte erin.
  Hun zien ook wel de F1 een ander soort publiek trekt als NASCAR, maar wil dit andere soort publiek wel alle mogelijkheden bieden tot de sport.
  
  Huidige veranderingen juig ik alleen maar toe..
  Alleen ik hoop wel dat straks/later ook meer zenders rechten krijgen tot uitzendingen, en niet alleen een exclusief groepje, die absurde bedragen moeten neer leggen om alles uit te zenden.
  Ik ben opzich blij met SkyF1, maar het is absurd duur vergeleken met andere zenders, en dat alleen voor de F1..
  Ziggo is misschien een alternatief, maar ik kan gewoon niet het commentaar van Mol aanhoren, boeit me niet hij niet de middelen heeft, maar hoeft zich toch niet als een fanboi te gedragen, beedje professionaliteit mag best wel..
  
  Maar wellicht krijgen we straks hopelijk meer zenders, hoge kwaliteit als Ziggo, maar betaalbaarder als SkyF1.
  Dat is echt waar ik naar verlang als fan, tot die tijd... dan maar Sky..
