Waardevolle testdag voor Racing Team Nederland

Racing Team Nederland is gisteren begonnen aan de laatste test ter voorbereiding op het seizoen 2017, waarin het uitkomt in de Europese Le Mans Series en deel zal nemen aan de 24 uur van Le Mans. De renstal, waar dit jaar Jan Lammers, Frits van Eerd en Rubens Barrichello voor zullen racen, bivakkeerde op het circuit van Monza in alle sessies in de staart van de LMP2-klasse, maar daar moet volgens teammanager Mark Koense geen waarde aan gehecht worden.

Hij legt uit: "Racing Team Nederland mag terugkijken op een productieve eerste dag op Monza. Frits en Jan hebben hier, net als eerder deze maand in Aragon, veel kilometers kunnen maken, en het team werkt gestaag de punten op het programma van dingen die door ons uitgeprobeerd of afgesteld moeten worden af. Vooral in deze testperiode van de totaal nieuwe generatie LMP2-auto's, gaat daarbij bijvoorbeeld ook aandacht uit naar allerlei software gerelateerde zaken."

"De onderlinge krachtsverhoudingen tussen de diverse teams zijn hier overigens vrij lastig te interpreteren. Met 41 voornamelijk langzamere auto's is het qua verkeer constant extreem druk op de baan en omdat opvallend veel auto's van de baan raakten en vanwege een paar serieuze crashes, waren er vandaag bovendien zeker tien, twaalf rode vlagen en zogenoemde Full Course Yellows."

"Voor wie een korte run op nieuwe banden wil doen, is het dus een loterij wat betreft het verkeer en het vrijwel constant afbreken of neutraliseren van de sessies. Daarnaast hebben we hier ook - voor het eerst - Dallara's Le Mans aero pakket kunnen uitproberen. Dat is dus weliswaar niet ontwikkeld voor een circuit als Monza, maar we verzamelen zo wel alvast belangrijke data op de wat Le Mans betreft wél relevante delen van Monza. Al met al een waardevolle eerste dag."

beschermde cockpit, wielkasten voor de veiligheid, lampjes voor in singapore en een haaienvin!

  hoop niet voor hem dat ie flink sneller is dan Lammers en Barrichello XD, zou betekenen dat ie net de verkeerde carriere pad heeft gekozen :P

  Minimaal 6 uur. Vraag is natuurlijk of zo weinig tijd realistisch is. Lammers is immers ook al 60+. Zal ongetwijfeld nog steeds goed meekomen. Maar of hij dat ook kan volhouden over meerdere uren?
