Bridgestone keert voorlopig niet terug in Formule 1

Bridgestone zal niet binnen afzienbare tijd een comeback in de Formule 1 maken. De Japanse bandenfabrikant was van 1998 tot en met 2010 met veel succes actief in de koningsklasse van de autosport, maar het merk heeft voorlopig geen trek in een nieuw Formule 1-avontuur.

Bridgestone richt zich op andere activiteiten en heeft zich net als sponsor aan de Olympische Spelen verbonden. Robin Shaw, directeur van Bridgestone Europe, verklaarde aan City AM: "Op dit moment investeren we onze tijd en middelen in de Olympische Spelen."

"Ik zie ons geen rentree maken in de Formule 1 in de nabije toekomst. Ik ben een fan van de Formule 1 en kijk graag naar de races, maar ik heb er vrede mee dat onze investeringen naar de Olympische Spelen gaan in plaats van naar de Formule 1."

Nou meer competitie? Grote kans dat de helft vd teams kansloos is omdat ze in dat jaar met de verkeerde bandenleverancier rijden. Zie de jaren 2001-2006 met Bridgestone en Michelin.

      Euhm nee, want er mag niet meer dan 1 fabrikant zijn. Michelin wilde er ook wel weer instappen, maar alleen met meerdere fabrikanten.

      Waarom zou je competitie willen? Krijg je weer hetzelfde als in 2001 tot 2006, daarbij heeft pirelli een knappe job gedaan de afgelopen seizoenen. goeie rubbers. Dus waarom veranderen? Je hebt al teveel verschillen i.v.m geld en dan ook nog eens meerdere banden leveranciers? Totale chaos als je mij vraagt

      Dat wil je inderdaad niet. Anders gaat 1 fabrikant zich volledig op bijvoorbeeld Ferrari richten en de ander volledig op Mercedes bijvoorbeeld. Andere teams lopen dan met motoren en banden achter de feiten aan.

      Het zou het in mijn ogen juist spectaculairder maken, aangezien het zomaar kan zijn, wanneer je de sterkste motor + Chassis hebt, maar dan net voor een verkeerd banden merk gekozen hebt waardoor de verschillen toch kleiner blijven.
      Geen enkel team weet van te voren welke banden leverancier de beste banden produceerd voor het seizoen..

      Je verhaal klopt niet. Kijk maar naar het verleden waar Ferrari en uit m'n hoofd Mclaren banden hadden die naar hun idee gemaakt werden en daarom goed werkte met alleen hun chassis.

      Het kan twee kanten op natuurlijk, mooiste zou zijn diverse bandenleveranciers die zich ieder aan een team zouden koppelen.
      Maar ook hier kan je weer iets negatiefs in vinden..

      Momenteel doet pirrelli het goed, maar net als met motoren het idee van een enkele leverancier doet me huiveren.
      In vergelijking kan je zeggen dat alle teams maar met een Merc motor moet gaan rijden, dus waarom niet met motoren wel met banden.

      Dit is mijn hele issue met Pirelli, niet hoe goed of slecht ze zijn, niet met concurentie, maar het issue dat men wel diversiteit wil in meeste onderdelen, maar banden dat is gemonopoliriseerd.

      En om die reden, en die reden alleen zou ik graag meer diversiteit willen zien in banden leveranciers.
      Haas is b.v het helemaal zat met Brembo remmen, en gaat geloof ik over naar Carbon Systems nu... Wederom diversiteit.
      Wat nu als een ander merk band beter zou werken voor een team..

      Wanneer je banden aan banden gaat leggen (pun intented) dan moet je eigenlijk ook andere dingen aan banden leggen, en gaat de F1 langzaam richting Indycars.
