Het is vandaag exact 49 jaar geleden dat Jim Clark verongelukte tijdens een Formule 2-race op de Hockenheimring. De Schot wordt alom beschouwd als een van de grootste coureurs die de wereld ooit gezien heeft. Clark reed 72 Grands Prix voor Lotus, triomfeerde 25 maal en won twee keer de wereldtitel, in 1963 en 1965. Op deze dag gedenken we een legendarische coureur die op 7 april 1968 overleed.

Ik ben er nog hoor jongens, mijn geest dwaalt voort.
Het kan altijd beter maar de F1 heeft zich sinds mijn tijd fantastisch ontwikkeld met een veel hogere veiligheid en spannender races als toen. Door de toegenomen veiligheid is het drama wel verminderd maar dat had ik er graag voor ingeruild ;).
