Mick Schumacher: "Nog niet klaar voor Formule 1"

Mick Schumacher vierde vorige maand zijn achttiende verjaardag. Dat is dezelfde leeftijd als waarmee Lance Stroll dit jaar debuteerde in de Formule 1. Max Verstappen was zelfs nog een jaar jonger ten tijde van zijn eerste Grand Prix. De zoon van zevenvoudig wereldkampioen Michael Schumacher rijdt in 2017 echter in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3.

De jonge Duitser geeft toe dat de Formule 1 voor hem op dit moment nog te hoog gegrepen. Mick Schumacher verkondigde aan Handelsblatt: "Max en Lance hebben op jeugdige leeftijd de sprong naar de Formule 1 gemaakt, maar ik ben er nog niet klaar voor." In de Formule 4 lukte het hem niet om titels te winnen. "Het heeft nog niet zo mogen zijn. Misschien ben ik niet consistent genoeg. Mijn doel is uiteraard om de komende jaren wel kampioenschappen op mijn naam te schrijven."

De kans is klein dat Mick Schumacher dit seizoen in het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap al een gooi kan doen naar de titel. "Het is mijn eerste jaar in deze klasse, dus het is vooral een kwestie van veel leren en tot de beste rookies behoren. Ik doe gewoon mijn ding. Ik moet mezelf nog bewijzen als coureur en dien me nog verder te verbeteren."

Toch staat hij al in de belangstelling van enkele Formule 1-teams, en niet de minste. Mercedes en Ferrari zouden Mick Schumacher maar wat graag in het opleidingsprogramma opnemen. "Dat is vleiend, want het betekent dat ik al een hoop goed doe. Ik probeer altijd mijn best te doen. Ik wil mezelf meten met de beste coureurs ter wereld en die lopen allemaal rond in de Formule 1."

Heb te doen met Mick. Die naam legt dubbele last op zijn schouders, zijn Duitse afkomst zie ik hier ook als nadeel met zo'n roemruchte geschiedenis. Als je dan ook geen surplus aan talent hebt...

  ik heb NIET te doen met Mick want hij doet er overduidelijk zelf graag aan mee. Tot nu toe krijgt hij overal een gespreid bedje...dit is vol te houden in de lagere klassen maar niet meer in de F1. In de F1 kan niemand zich meer verstoppen..daar wordt middelmatigheid genadeloos afgestraft, zie ook ene Lance Stroll.

Misschien geeft hij over een paar jaar wel aan dat hij niet goed genoeg is voor de F1, hij gaat daar denk ik niet rondrijden als hij denkt dat hij er niets kan bereiken.
Ik heb mijn twijfels of Mick wel goed genoeg zal zijn voor de F1.

  Absoluut. Het lijkt me een aardige jongen. Maar ik betwijfel of hij goed genoeg is voor de F1.

  Wat er ook gebeurd: Mick Schumacher gaat vroeg of laat zowiezo F1 rijden ookal is hij niet goed genoeg. Ik denk inderdaad dat hij geen supertalent maar dat hoeft ook niet. Zijn ouders hebben genoeg geld en vanwege zijn naam maar ook nationaliteit zijn er genoeg sponsoren die voor hem in de rij staan. Bovendien hoef je in de Formule 1 alleen maar in het beste team te komen en je teammaat te verslaan om wereldkampioen te worden. Iedere pannenkoek rijd top 5 met de huidige mercedes. En die Prema waar hij nu in rijdt is zo goed dat hij top 3 wel moet halen, je rijdt in ieder geval vooraan in de F3 en dus publiciteit. In voorspel dat hij in de F1 uiteindelijk bij een topteam terecht komt. Mercedes en Ferrari houden hem al in de gaten. We will see..

  Mick zal geen F1 gaan rijden als hij zich daar niet goed genoeg. Voor voelt, zelfs als er teams zijn die hem een plek willen geven. Dat doen ze dan ook alleen vanwege zijn naam. Hij zal zijn familienaam niet te grabbel willen gooien en voor het held hoeft hij het niet te doen.

Blij voor hem dat hij zich niet gek laat maken.. Sowieso met zo,n Vader alleen in F1 moet stappen als hij echt wat kan presteren , en nee hij hoeft echt niet het niveau van zn vader te evenaren,, maar niet voor J. L.L rondjes gaan rijden omdat hij toevallig Schumacher heet..

Knap dat hij zo rustig blijft en zich niet gek laat maken door de grote teams die nu achter hem aan zitten.
Dat doen ze ook niet omdat hij zo'n groot talent heeft maar om zijn achternaam. Hij prikt daar dus mooi doorheen, al heb ik mijn twijfels bij zijn uitspraak "het betekent dat ik al een hoop goed doe." Misschien toch niet zo nuchter als hij wil doen voorkomen?

Zou zijn oom Ralf Schumacher niet beter zijn coach worden net zoals Jos het altijd deed bij Max en verdere generaties het zou moeten doen!
