Hamilton verwijdert video op aandringen van Liberty

Liberty Media heeft de regels met betrekking tot het gebruik en verspreiden van beeldmateriaal via social media dan wel versoepeld voor de teams en coureurs, maar dat betekent niet dat alles zomaar mag. Daar kwam Mercedes-rijder Lewis Hamilton achter. De Brit had onboard-beelden van zijn pole position in China op zijn Instagram-pagina gezet, maar die video is inmiddels weer verwijderd.

Dit is gebeurd op aandringen van Liberty Media. Een woordvoerder van het mediabedrijf legt aan F1i.com uit: "Dit seizoen heeft de Formule 1 nieuwe richtlijnen geadopteerd waardoor teams en coureurs hun activiteiten mogen filmen en delen om ze de sport dichter bij de fans te brengen. Alle renstallen en rijders hebben dit beleid met enthousiasme onthaald, met als gevolg veel meer interesse voor de Formule 1 op social media."

"Echter, de Formule 1 wil niet dat coureurs zelf beelden vanuit de televisieregistratie gaan delen, want voor die beelden hebben de uitzendgemachtigden een licentie verkregen, en in veel gevallen een exclusieve licentie ook nog. Alle teams en rijders hebben daar begrip voor en zodra er een foutje wordt gemaakt zullen wij ze vragen om het materiaal zo snel mogelijk te verwijderen."

Logisch besluit. Op de beelden liggen immers duurbetaalde rechten en zonder toestemming mag je ze dus niet verspreiden. Voortaan dus beter alleen zelfgemaakte video's delen.

      Het gaat al stukken beter op dit vlak. Zie ook de officiële F1 Facebook-pagina, daar staan al veel video's op en het zou me niet verbazen dat Lewis' pole-ronde er ook bij zit. Bernie zou er van gruwelen. ;)

      Zeer waarschijnlijk staat Liberty dit in de toekomst wel toe, maar zijn de handen momenteel gewoon nog te veel gebonden door nog lopende contracten die zijn afgesloten met Bernie en de landen. Liberty heeft in mijn ogen al een mooie tussenweg in het beleid gevonden. Wellicht dat Lewis simpelweg (bewust of onbewust) aan het uittesten is hoe ver de vrijheid reikt. Dat kan ik alleen maar toejuichen!

      Dit lijkt mij niet meer dan logisch, deze beelden zijn alleen toegankelijk voor media bedrijven die er flink voor betalen. Zo is het ook bij het voetbal, NBA, etc het is lariekoek dat alle officiele beelden volledig beschikbaar zijn op youtube of iets dergelijks van deze sporten. Ze doen het al heel netjes door gedeeltelijk zelf gemaakte beelden toe te staan. Als ze alles vrij zouden geven is het hek van de dam en hebben rechten geen enkele zin meer.

      Laten we iedere stap voorwaarts waarderen, Liberty Media kan inderdaad niet als een olifant door een porseleinkast gaan.

      @Mika Kimi. Denk dat Bernie de video’s niet eens zou kunnen vinden op een facebook-pagina.

    Beetje aftasten dus nog wat wel en wat niet mag. Media betalen gruwelijk veel geld voor licenties, dus ik kan het wel begrijpen in dit geval.

    Voor de rest is het een verademing dat er veel meer te zien en te volgen is op de social media.

      Gopro op een helm bij een (ex-)formule 1 coureur... denk het niet. Eerder dat Mercedes een camera in de spiegels plaatst waar ze zelf exclusieve beelden mee maken.
