Maleisië voelt zich in de maling genomen door Bernie Ecclestone

Directeur van de Grand Prix van Maleisië, Razlan Razali, heeft hard uitgehaald naar voormalig Formule 1-baas Bernie Ecclestone. De race op het circuit van Sepang wordt eind september voorlopig voor de laatste keer gereden. De overheid wil geen geld meer steken in de Grand Prix die al sinds 1999 gereden wordt. 

Razali is teleurgesteld in Ecclestone die recent zei dat hij in het verleden te veel in rekening had gebracht om een Formule 1-race te mogen organiseren. Razali: "Dat hij met zo'n statement komt is erg teleurstellend en wij voelen ons in de maling genomen."

Maar ook de nieuwe eigenaren van de Formule 1, Liberty Media, kan op kritiek rekenen van Razali: "Wij hebben een plan ingediend om op een mooie manier afscheid te nemen van de Formule 1, maar daar willen ze ons niet bij helpen. Wij zijn er niet van overtuigd dat zij de Formule 1 verder kunnen brengen als zij ons niet eens bij de laatste race willen helpen.

Dit schot voor open doel hebben ze inmiddels zo lang aan zich voorbij laten gaan dat Liberty daar vermoedelijk niet eens meer wakker van... [Lees verder]

Dit schot voor open doel hebben ze inmiddels zo lang aan zich voorbij laten gaan dat Liberty daar vermoedelijk niet eens meer wakker van ligt. Dus wat mij betreft hebben meneer Razali en de zijnen een stevige klont boter op hun hoofd.

      Bij de daar gebruikelijke temperaturen heeft meneer Razali dan binnen de kortste keren boter in zijn ogen. ;-)

    Sepang is echt een geweldige plek, naast een zeer uitdagend technisch baantje is het een heerlijke plaats met onvoorspelbaar, tropisch weer. Ik ben er 2x geweest en heb er warme herinneringen aan overgehouden. Persoonlijk ervaar ik het verlaten van de F1 door Sepang als een groot verlies voor de sport. Gelukkig gaan ze rechtsom door met de motoGP!

      Ik vind het ook heel jammer. Nooit bij die Grand Prix geweest, maar wel fan van Maleisië. Hopelijk krabbelt Liberty nu terug.
