Lewis Hamilton heeft geen spijt van laten schieten bandentests

Lewis Hamilton heeft de suggestie van de hand gewezen dat zijn afwezigheid bij tests van Pirelli een nadelige invloed hebben op zijn prestaties.

De drievoudig wereldkampioen reed voor het eerst met de nieuwe banden tijdens een test na de laatste race vorig seizoen in Abu Dahbi. Dat was in november en hij kwam slechts één dagdeel in actie. Sebastian Vettel heeft veel meer kansen gepakt om kennis te maken met de nieuwe banden. Hij greep iedere test in 2016 met beide handen aan om in een speciaal gemodificeerde auto plaats te nemen. In deze auto werd al de downforce onder de nieuwe regels gesimuleerd.

Geen spijt

Nu Vettel de stand om de wereldtitel leidt wordt Hamilton gevraagd of hij het achteraf niet anders had moeten doen. "Ik heb geen spijt nee. Wij hebben geen problemen met de banden. Volgens mij heeft het te maken met de hitte van de remmen, temperaturen, out laps, dat soort zaken, om tot een bepaald level van downforce te komen", aldus Hamilton.

Geen voordeel voor het team van Ferrari

Hamilton gaat verder: "Ik denk niet dat Ferrari een voordeel heeft. Zij waren in Rusland direct succesvol, zoals wij dat in China hadden. De auto van Ferrari deed het prima en wij moesten hard werken om de auto te krijgen op het niveau dat wij nastreven. Dat had verder niets te doen met de tests waardoor zijn een voordeel zouden hebben."

Ferrari, Red Bull Racing en Mercedes waren uitgekozen om Pirelli te helpen zoveel mogelijk data te verzamelen voor de banden in 2017. Voor Mercedes kwamen met name Pascal Wehrlein en Nico Rosberg in actie bij die specifieke tests.

Tja hij zal nooit zeggen dat het inderdaad niet slim is. Altijd een open deur die vragen stellen aan een F1 coureur.

een coureur die net zo snel weg zou kunnen zijn als rosberg. die man is geen coureur geworden voor de snelheid maar voor de roem en het geld

  hij kan zeker rijden, maar het is een coureur die net zo lief andere dingen zou doen. menig f1 coureur wordt al warm van van een proefritje in een aftandse ford k, lewis zou zo over kunnen stappen op iets anders
